USPS Shipping to Canada, is my package lost? (19 Viewers)

I ordered some pretty expensive poker chips from someone in the US about 18 days ago, but its been stuck in the "In Transit to Next Facility" section for a week and a half now. I opened up a missing mail search and started an inquiry from USPS website as well on the 17th but so far that's done nothing.

You can see the tracking of the package below, has this ever happened to anyone where it got stuck here? Or how long does this even take? I am quite concerned and really just want my package to arrive.

No way to tell, but sometimes these packages tend to miraculously show up once a missing package report is submitted. The Chicago distribution hub is notorious for this. Hope it appears soon!

I've heard yea, but I'm sure I still need to pay customs on this, and it hasn't even got to that step makes me more worried. Is there any other escalation I can do besides this?

I had a Faro Dunes tournament set that I thought was lost a while back. Turns out customs was giving them a closer inspection. They didn't like the valuation so held them. I finally got a letter explaining further information was required. A quick email and a few hundred later and they were on they're way to me. They done work fast for sure.

I feel like this is what might be happening here. Did they give you any notification that the customs was giving it a closer look from USPS website or anything like that? Or how did they even contact you on that? How long did you have to wait total?

Not really it just sat at the boarder as it's last scan for weeks.

Not unusual at all. I've had packages stuck in that status for 2-3 weeks, they have all arrived. You may not get enough of a window to pay customs online though (stuck stuck stuck, set for delivery tomorrow).

Interesting okay this is reassuring. Did you file any inquiries or missing packages alert? And if so, did that speed anything up?

The last one I just waited. In the past I've had the shipper do an inquiry and each time the status updated the next day (this form https://www.usps.com/help/international-claims.htm#).

Good luck! I know it is stressful but I think you have nothing to worry about.

Hang in there. I had one go up there missing for 3 months in customs limbo.
(but a while back when tracking was not as good at the time)

Yea got that done too, hopefully it comes up. The worst thing to happen is if this is lost, I dont even care for the money that much, chips are much more important to me since it was ridiculously hard finding these.

This has been our experience too.
Knock on Wood; Having the shipper doing an inquiry has worked pretty consistently in getting packages un-stuck.

I’ve had this happen and it’s probably just delayed in a customs facility. Give it a week or two more before taking major steps. I wouldn’t be surprised if it just shows up randomly with no additional tracking update

This would be great, but I doubt it could circumvent customs like that, which seems to be very random idk how some do get customs and others don’t.

In my experience it doesn’t circumvent customs, you just get a pickup notice delivered to you, and when you go pick it up you have to pay duties at that point in person

For what it’s worth I had a few singles take 2 months to complete “In transit to next” in the USPS system. These were singles so I just wrote it off but they did show up at my reshipper 2 months later.

96 days lol. I remember because I went thru the whole process of getting a refund and then randomly received the package one day. I messaged him to repay him and we laughed about the 96 days.

I’ve also had a few be more like one or two weeks of nothing and then get a notice.

I had a CONUS shipment similarly stuck in "transit to next facility" for 50+ days total. Filed a missing mail report like you after a couple weeks. Waited a few more weeks with no change in status. Then suddenly, it showed up in my local distribution center a couple days before the 60 day deadline to file a claim.

I read similar experiences from others on PCF too.

So there's still hope for your package.....

I feel that filing a missing report only 6 days after it has been last seen moving through the system, on an international package, is a BIT too soon. I wouldn't worry at all for at least a few more weeks.

Holy crap! This is such a sad post. Why the Fuk are international post officials so bad? Bunch of Assholes. Ruining the chipping hobby for so many around the world. Waiting many weeks to months is a shame. Hope this gets resolved somehow!!!

I wouldn’t worry yet. If it’s high value and declared as such those types of packages seem to always get held up while they decide how much duty/tariffs to apply. I’ve had packages coming into Canada and into the US that have stopped updating only to arrive or start tracking again.

I wouldn’t lose hope yet!!

So I've shipped tons of packages and had this happen to a handful.

Good news is, I have yet to ever have a package go fully missing. Just sometimes it can take a bit. I had one international take 3 months but eventually popped up.

Looks like most people have experienced the same thing, and luckily its always shown up so that gives me hope lol.

UPDATE: it finally arrived today, but in terrible condition. The box was beaten up bad and on its last legs, and I opened the package, chips were strewn around everywhere and some were even damaged. Got this fun message on the box as well

I think what likely happened was that the original box broke open and then they hastily repackaged them in the current abomination and sent them to me. This also caused a bunch of chips to be missing from my set so I am on the hunt to replace those, please let me know if you have any to sell (see link below).
