Calling all Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Canadian PCF Members!

I'm going to purchase some Lighted LED Dealer Buttons from @Gavin, and have them shipped to me in Chilliwack. If there is enough interest, I can organize a Group Buy to get lower prices and shared shipping costs to Canada.

Costs are TBD at this point (see below), but a package of two should hopefully be around $40 CDN or less if we can get the order level to multiples of 10 (I'm buying 2 sets). If someone local has a US Dollar Paypal account and/or a US mailing address that is willing to cross the border, we can reduce the costs substantially.

Who:
  • All Canadian PCF members, especially those in or around Vancouver/Lower Mainland
  • For members in Vancouver, Fraser Valley, etc., I can arrange to meet you for delivery (preferably at a Runner Runner, Hitman, MP, LPL,, Cedar Ridge or other local game).
  • For those outside the Lower Mainland, I'll use Canada Post padded mailers or cardboard package for final delivery.

How much:

That depends on total number of units purchased. I'm hoping that they will be less than $40 CDN per pair to the Lower Mainland.
  • Base price is $20 USD for two dealer buttons (including one charging cord).
  • There will be some discount (TBD) available for multiple purchases (hence the group buy)
  • Shipping to Canada will be minimum $32.20 USD (USPS SFRB), and maximum $75.15 USD (USPS LFRB), shared among all buyers
  • There will be GST/PST of 13% on the purchase price (not including shipping), regardless of where in Canada you live
  • Shipping to other parts of Canada will be at lowest available Canada post option - probably around $25-$30 CDN.
  • I would prefer to use PayPal G&S for the buyer protection, so we would have to pay the 3.5% difference from F&F (plus the exorbitant PayPal Currency Exchange Fee, PayPal International Transaction fee and whatever other ridiculous fees that PayPal decides to tack on)
  • If someone local (Lower Mainland) has a US Dollar PayPal account, and/or they have a US mailing address and are willing to cross the border in these turbulent times, we can reduce the costs (shipping, PayPal fees, brokerage fees, etc.) by a lot! Let me know if you can help out.
  • Note that it is possible to buy them on eBay - the price there is $26 USD/pair plus around $18 USD shipping, but you'll likely also get hit with a $32+ CDN brokerage fee, depending on the carrier, and you'd still be on the hook for Paypal Currency Exchange/International Transaction fees and GST/HST. I think that a group buy would be cheaper.
Example: IF there are 10 sets ordered (2 buttons/set), they should fit into a SFRB (to be confirmed). $200 purchase (possibly discounted) plus $32.20 shipping is $232.30 US or around $325 CDN. Tack on 5% currency exchange fees (PayPal sucks), 3.5% Paypal G&S fees, $10 CDN Canada Post brokerage fee, and 12% GST/PST, for a total of around $395 CDN, or around $39.50 CDN per pair. There may be other costs that I'm not aware of.

Why:
  • They are pretty cool (IMO)
  • They are really easy to see on the table, especially in low ambient light (I've seen them in use at @Jeevansluck's game)
  • Buying through a Group Buy will reduce per unit costs for purchase and shipping
When:

I'm taking expressions of interest for the next few weeks. If there's enough interest, I'm hoping to nail down the final cost, collect money and make the purchase around Feb 20. Delivery should take about a week to my place, then I'll distribute things in early March.

Cheers!

Just to note, I'll be acting simply as a middle man here. I'm not going to take any commission or otherwise profit from this (other than lowering my own purchase price to the same as all other GB participants).

Similarly I'm not going to be responsible for any quality control or warranty issues. That will be between you and @Gavin.

Thanks Bart
I saw this dealer at Grant’s game and honestly I’m not crazy about that
Also I had too many DBs

Thanks for the tag and effort putting this together. I will not be joining in as my hosting days seem far off into the future. (But I will take a moment to realize how lucky I am as I expect to see one of these in action at one of the local games - including yours when I can get out that way! Seriously though, so many great local hosts with awesome chips and tables, I kinda don’t need to host huh)

GLWGB!
