Upholstering the rail on an octagon table (2 Viewers)

My dad and I are building an octagon poker table. We are basically done and are upholstering the rail with vinyl, but we can't figure out a way to get the vinyl over the corner of the octagon without the vinyl ripping. even when we pull the rail as tight as possible, there isn't enough vinyl to staple to the plywood without it ripping. I fear we may have cut it too short. Any advice or ideas would be nice.
