Ultrasonic Chip Cleaning (12 Viewers)

so i read somewhere (which i'm trying to find) that someone put the chips in a ziplock bag and in the ultrasonic cleaner. what's the general consensus on that approach? and can anyone point me to it?

I think people are being a little over cautious. I throw 200 chips at a time into the 6L cleaner and use a wooden cooking spatula to stir fry the chips like Chinese food. :ROFLMAO:

Zero scratches on the chips. Water is like a lubricant that helps protect chips from scratching. There’s a lot more potential to scratch them in a real pot when you’re playing IMO when it’s all mixed together and people spread the pot to count how much is in the pot.

200 wow never knew that many could go in

All ready for my next batch of cleaning... my Roadhouse chips, @Donvito ’s roadhouse chips, some of his Horseshoe Cinci’s, and some more Cali Bells I picked up within the last year.

As promised @Donvito, before and afters. Oiling still to come... but turned out good. 1300 chips in an hour and a half. 40 secs at 110F no pre soak on the RHCs. 2.5mins at 110F no pre soak on the Cali Bells... May try pre soak on Cali Bells next time I do some.

Same here! I appreciate all the caution, and to each their own, but for me, it's really not that serious. You don't need a salad spinner, or distilled water, you don't need to presoak, or to do 2 barrels at a time... you just need some warm water, TSP, stir with wooden spoon for 1-2 mins depending on the grime (2 mins for the Roadhouse), and then dump in a bucket of warm water to rinse.

Then use the oil and water method to oil.

Took me 1 hour to wash and oil 700 Roadhouse.

Yeah that's great. I haven't used the water/oil method yet to oil but I will try that too next time.

I cleaned around 600 ACF ceramics without using distilled water, and it was an utter waste of time. Using the right materials is worth the extra time and minimal expense.

Ultrasonic got a workout tonight, 4 filthy racks of various casino singles.... :vomit:

The silver 7s and hard rocks needed a quick wipe with a magic eraser to remove the remnant STDs and hooker juice....

All shiny & clean now.

This probably has been answered deep in this thread but I'm lazy to read thru,

my friend owns china clays and was wondering if its safe to clean in my Ultrasonic cleaner

My own comments:
I clean 60 chips at a time in a PCF standard (6 liter?) ultrasonic. I use distilled water - it's under a buck a gallon and we tend to have it around for other things. I just stir the chips with my (gloved) hands. I have found the salad spinner to be an unnecessary pain. I may have a weak ultrasonic but it's not at all uncomfortable, unlike the experience of others. 45 seconds and warmish (110 F) water does the trick nicely.

How are you removing the chips from the ultrasonic? Seems like one purpose of the spinner is ease of lifting them from the tank.

I use my hands. I have my salad spinner full of water with the basket in it next to the ultrasonic and dump the chips in there to rinse.
