Considering building my own table but do not own any relevant equipment whatsoever and have no massive DIY history.

Whilst I believe I could if I attempted to, I’m not sure where I’d get relevant foam, rail upholstery - to anyone who has built their own table here - where would you source these parts, would you go to a specific mainstream shop or online?

Alternatively, my instagram feed popped up with a company called ‘thehouseoftables’ recently who seems to be someone based in the north west of england who is building tables and made a business out of it and supplies the party poker tour (no idea how prestigious this is). Has anyone ordered, used or have ANY feedback on this company?

This company do not have any kind of review system which to me raises some alarm bells and they’re charging roughly £700 + delivery for a table which seems steep. However, by the time I account for materials, tools, time and effort spent on doing it myself and if anyone can vouch for this company I’m wondering if it just makes sense to go through them instead.

Thanks for any advice/feedback in advance on the company or general resource info for UK suppliers

Can’t comment on that supplier. But considering materials and time, £700 for a custom table sounds fair to me.

I built a small table many years ago. Straightforward really following instructions. Cobbled together the more specialist materials via eBay etc.

I currently have a barrington table (Costco, folding but not exactly portable) and a topper. Very impressed - topper makes it imo. different budget from a full size, permanent table obviously.

They have this one in their gallery and I feel like I’ve seen this table on here before

Having just built a table (in Canada), that actually seems pretty reasonable.

All prices in CDN (1$ CDN = ~0.53 GBP), not including GST/PST (VAT)
  • Custom cloth (Chanman) $370
  • Rail foam $130
  • Table foam $45
  • Rail vinyl $105
  • 2 sheets of 3/4" plywood $140
  • Folding table legs $110 (Gorilla Gaming legs $250 USD or around $350 plus shipping)
  • Spray adhesive $20
  • Tee nuts/threaded inserts, bolts, screws, staples, etc. $35
  • Cup holders $25

$955 CDN, not including labour, shop supplies (sandpaper, etc.), tools (pneumatic stapler, router).

That's about 510 GBP, so an extra 190 pounds for someone to actually build it (and guarantee it) seems not too far off.

Plus the Home Series tables on that site have LED's, which would add to the cost/complexity if building it yourself.

So is this one....

As well as the next photo in his gallery. You might want to be careful of a place that claims to have built tables that they did not.

Hi. Just stumbled on this thread. Im not 100% sure but i think the house of tables stuff youve seen is actually made in Romania. Goin off some of the bases used they're the same as someone selling on eBay uk (from Romania) plus 700 quid shipping would possibley be another give away aswell.

i don't know what's theirs or not based on their website/instagram as they've ripped off T Chan's gallery of tables he built! needless to say never went with them
