While playing at a WSOP circuit event this week, I sat next to a guy who had this awesome device: A backpack which unzips into a seat cushion plus two saddlebags which hang on either side of the seat to hold a phone, snacks and other gear.

He said he bought it from a company called Quad Queens years ago… But didn’t think the company was still in business.

I found a website featuring the product, but it does appear the business is defunct:

Pictures are terrible, but give some idea.

Any PCFers own one of these? Better yet… Anyone want to manufacture a similar item?

I did google around thinking maybe someone else must make a similar product, but no luck so far.

But seriously that’s so much stuff on the side I think you would be encroaching other people’s space.

That’s why I said the photos on that site weren’t very good.

The guy who had it at WSOP didn’t have it so stuffed with material. The side pockets were zippered, and holding his phone, a soda, and a few other things.

Didn’t protrude much at all from his chair. But still pretty handy.

Used to have something close to that for my dual sport motorcycle. Kinda like this pic (over seat panniers), but with seat padding as well. Might be a start...?

So I did go browsing at Wally World, and for about 45 bucks assembled parts to make my own streamlined version of this:

The parts consist of:

— Nice gel cushion with handle
— Two zippered mesh toiletry bags
— Some industrial Velcro
— Needle & thread

I sewed the two mesh toiletry bags to the front edge of the seat pad, making sure to orient them so that the zippers open from their tops.

Then affixed the pre-glued Velcro pieces (about 3" x 2" each) to the backs of the saddlebags and back of the pad, to hold them in place when carrying… And I put some stitches into the corners of the backing pieces to make sure they can’t pull off.

That’s it. This isn’t a backpack, obv; but it provides enough storage for a tallboy beer or large soda on each side, plus room for my phone, charger, maybe a couple of energy bars.

My sewing skills are terrible, but since all of the stitches are out of sight, it doesn’t really matter.

Much more basic and streamlined than the Quad Queens product, but only $45… And it should be handy at my next tourney.

There’s also a zipper on the back of the cushion, used I guess to insert the foam…

Thinking of inserting a bank-style cash pouch in there to hold my various casino cards, maybe some emergency cash, though I’d be hesitant to leave it on the seat during breaks if anything valuable were in it. Because obviously there are going to be many jealous, unscrupulous poker players dying to steal this item 😉

No pics, but I was mostly pleased with my Saddle Seat.

Issues for review:

(1) This particular game’s seats were wider than average, which meant that the saddlebags flared out a bit. Not so much that I couldn’t use them, but they didn’t hang down perfectly straight as intended.
(2) I need to find the right size/type of drink container, or else something to help keep drinks more upright and easily accessible.

The can I had with me was shorter than the bag, did not have a screw top, and was prone to tipping.

On the way home I bought a tall aluminum can of Poland Spring water at my nearest convenience store which seems to work better — it’s light, can be sealed (and refilled), and when upright protrudes just a bit through the top of the saddlebag, so it can be grabbed easily. By closing the zipper a bit also prevents tipping.

Alternatively, I could use something else (even just pair of rolled up socks) as blocking to hold an open container upright.

As far as the host’s wide seating, I’d either need to find a broader cushion or some other way to extend the saddlebags laterally for this specific game to make them hang correctly.

Couple thoughts
The issue with a wider chair could be solved with extender belt basically a 2 to 3 inch strip that has a hook andloop on it to extend the side pieces, this is the best solution. I did find it fascinating that I knew it instantly.

I don’t know how else to say this, you’re one of the weirdest people on the Forum, I have to meet you at some point!! you are my people, you might even be weirder than I am and trust me that sayinga lot!!

My solution is to carry a backpack with an inflatable seat cushion, and then I have a hook for the backpack to hang on the chair.

Hmmm, good idea. I’d have to tear out some of my (terrible) stitching, but might try that.

Found this on Amazon:

The side tab could be cut off, and the top strap could be cut above the adjustment thingy; then the strap gets sewn to the bottom of my seat cushion...

$16 each
