Hosting a tourney for the first time in a long time. Heres what Im working with.

Players: 17-19
starting stack t5000, rebuys allowed for 60-90 minutes.
rebuy estimate: 5-8
tournament run time 3.5-4 hours.
My best guess is that I get 18 players with 6 rebuys for a total of 120,000 chips in play.

Heres what I have so far. Based on estimated players and chips it should end level 14, which makes about 3.5 hours of play and 20 minutes of break. Are 15 minute levels too short? Are my color ups correct?

level 1 15m 25/50
level 2 15m 50/100
level 3 15m 75/150
level 4 15m 100/200
level 5 15m 150/300
level 6 15m 200/400
End Rebuys 10 min break and color up 25s
level 7 15m 300/600
level 8 15m 400/800
level 9 15m 600/1,200
level 10 15m 800/1,600
level 11 15m 1,000/2,000
level 12 15m 1,500/3,000
10 min break color up 100s and 500s?
level 13 15m 2,000/4,000
level 14 15m 3,000/6,000
level 15 15m 5,000/10,000
level 16 15m 6,000/12,000
level 17 15m 8,000/16,000
level 18 15m 10,000/20,000

A T5000 re-buy event with 18 players and typical re-buy rate (20%-33%) will generally finish no later than L14 (3000/6000) using your structure with 15-minute levels, so about 3.5 hours plus breaks.

15 minute levels is fine, although any re-buys after L5 aren't a very good purchase value (an L6 re-buy is just 16BB).

The only glaring structure inconsistency is the need to change L15 to 4000/8000 -- everything else looks fine.

If stopping re-buys after L5 (22BB, my recommendation), you could break there and color-up T25s, followed by a T100 color-up break after L10. You can remove some of the extra T500s during play (between hands) in L13-L14 if necessary, exchanging them for T5000s. No dedicated T500 color-up break needed.

Yeah I changed L15 because if it goes that late I want it to end pretty quickly. Going to swap the break after L12 for quick break at L10 to color up 100s then removing 500s a little later should be easy shorthanded.

We ended up with 18 players, 10 rebuys and i think we finished in L16 6000/12000 but it may have been L15.

What was the buy-in/re-buy cost?
