On one hand, it's part of the forum's proud, long, highly documented history that we have transparent releases with lots of data for many, if not most, of our most famous and prized sets
As has been pointed out, this has not been the norm IMO until maybe years and years after a new release, and then only if the seller wanted to disclose.
If it was me, I wouldn't disclose. There are already enough folks ready to burn down a
NAGB seller REGARDLESS of what they do, as we all saw with certain folks involving the Tigers despite it being at the time one of the most transparent and public
NAGB sales to have ever been pulled off.
If the information is divulged, it is interesting to see and know. But, the sellers already know people are interested, have been asked repeatedly for it and if they don't want to disclose, then it doesn't bother me and, again, is none of my business to begin with.
I either buy or I don't based upon my own assessment of the chip, its value to me, and whether it is worth it to me. Anything else is irrelevant. But I buy chips to play with, not as an "investment", so maybe I don't look at it the same way those who are so hyper focused on value do. Everyone approaches the hobby differently and that's ok.
Ken seems extremely astute and has been around here a long time, I'm sure if he ever wants to lift the curtain, he will. Until then, I am content with the chip awesomeness he brought to us all.
