40 person T30,000 with T25 - T 5,000 chips

25 100 500 1,000 5,000
8 8 4 7 4

chip breakdown ------ chips I'm working with

25/ 320 ---------------- 25 / 520

100/ 320------------ -- 100/ 520

500/ 200 --------------- 500 / 270

1,000/ 310 ------------- 1,000 / 390

5,000/ 160 ------------- 5,000 / 2000

Any ideas for a better set up with the chips I'm working with would be appreciated!

Shoot me a pm - I'm not understanding your list of numbers above.

How long do you want the tournament to last? T30,000 starting stack with T25 chips seems extreme.

It would be for a large deep stack tourney we have once a once a year. So this would be the most I would push the set.

time would be anywhere from 6-10 hr tourney

Rethinking this I think it could be fun. I have a T30,000 starting stack tournament next Friday I am hosting and I think I may just add the T25 chip and levels in.

50/100 starting blinds with T30K stacks is 300bb, plenty enough deep-stack for a 6-10 hr tourney for 40 people.

I'm playing in a tournament tomorrow with 25,000 starting stacks, 25/50 starting blinds, 30 minute levels, and probably 100ish players.
I'm very curious to see the blind schedule.

Good point. I'll try that.

These are the levels I am going with:
Round Time Small Big

1 00:25 50 100
2 00:25 75 150
3 00:25 100 200
4 00:25 150 300

00:05 Break 1
5 00:25 200 400
6 00:25 300 600
7 00:25 400 800

00:05 Break 2
8 00:25 500 1000
9 00:25 600 1200
10 00:25 800 1600

00:05 Break 3
11 00:25 1000 2000
12 00:25 1500 3000
13 00:25 2000 4000

00:05 Break 4
14 00:25 3000 6000
15 00:25 5000 10000
16 00:25 8000 16000

00:05 Break 5
17 00:25 10000 20000
18 00:25 15000 30000
19 00:25 20000 40000

00:05 Break 6
20 00:20 30000 60000
21 00:20 50000 100000

ditch L8 totally
change L11 to 1200/2400 (followed by break 3)
change L15 to 4000/8000
add new level 6000/12000 after L15
change L21 to 40000/80000

Much smoother and more consistent increases, and avoids both your miniscule and overly large jumps. Color-up and break points unaffected.

Appreciate the feedback, I'll make these changes.

Sorry for hijacking the thread!!

In order to be more in line with the original post (I think), here is my chip breakdown. I normally do 1 stack of chips but have found lately that it is more fun getting more chips on the table and I will likely only have 15-17 people for this tournament. I picked this distribution since it is easier to manage as 2 buy-ins fit to a rack:
T25 x 12
T100 x 17
T500 x 10
T1,000 x 8
T5,000 x 3

50 chips total

Thanks,
Grant
