For years, the rack folks have been marketing their products as a capacity of 100. So if you get a beautiful 1000 chips set, you are then forced to buy 10 racks. I suspect (but cannot prove) many poker chip vendors sell the chips at a loss just to make tons of margin on rack after rack. Tyga wrote a song about it, quite catchy.

At this point, a tiny minority of people may be saying “hey wait a minute, I keep my chips in cases”. Cases suck, and case people, you’ve got it all wrong.

Back to the racks (the ONLY proper storage of chips), the months of isolation and indoors time and lack of usual chip activity (like poker) have led me to an amazing revelations. Racks hold more than 100 chips.

Matsui racks? Easily double your storage:

Regular racks? Oh you betcha

280?! (Larry, how bout those by-the-rack prices now? Pretty good deal!)

With this last method, I think you can fit a whole set in just a rack or two. This is 360 below

You all are welcome (except the case people, again, you are doing it wrong)

I refuse to make payments to the rack mafia!!
I've got aluminum cases, leather cases, heads-up cases, carousels, anything that isn't a plastic rack! I even just ordered this weirdo transformer thingy:

Surprised you didn't post a photo of the functional, aesthetic, and ocd-pleasing 300-chip pyramid rack.

Add a couple of large rubber bands, and two of those will fit just fine in a chip carrier -- while simultaneously saving on the cost of four needless racks.

After failed attempts, I realized how much better of a shape trapezoids are vs the basic triangle

Wow you’ve opened my eyes to what’s really going on. Great post! I will never confine my chips to a rack again.

My in-laws use poker chips for Mahjong and use plastic bowls to keep the chips in. They have 10 tables set up and keep the bowls on the tables with chips in them divided by colors. Games are played several times a week, so I guess it’s just easier that way.
