I am trying to get a sense of the difference between textured vs matte laminates (for a set which is a combination of 70% inlay replacements and 30% milled).

Not many posters specify which label type they used when posting pr0n, so I’m still unsure after going through multiple pages of posts. Maybe I missed a good comparison shot somewhere.

(My previous orders were all for overlabels so those were the thinner, unlaminated vinyl.)

Does anyone have side-by-side comparison pics that show the differences between the two main laminate types? I thought I had a sample set here but just can’t find ’em.

I’ve been leaning textured. But some photos here seem like maybe the texture picks up/reflects more light from some angles, making the perceived richness of the color somewhat duller. Maybe it’s just the photo quality.

Get samples? :)

Per above, I thought I had a sample set but can’t find it. Gear is sending me some.

Still interested to see people’s pics while I wait for those to arrive from Canada.

Would be helpful if people tagged their pr0n with a description of the label type!

I have some samples of "Smooth" (T5000) and "Matte" (T100). Close-up, in morning sunlight.

It's unlikely you would ever have such harsh conditions. I think the difference is more tactile than aesthetic, but there are differences.

I've only used glossy vinyl with either textured or smooth laminate. Mine were for inlay replacement chips

Boat chips and Crystal Parks were glossy smooth

My Nevada Hotel Tributes were glossy textured

I've never tried the matte type. The laminate type was chosen to match the target set I was building. Below is a close up of my Nevada Hotel set. The fracs were milled, the rest except the 5 were inlay replaced.

I have another project in the pipeline where I'm using textured for The Pub

Thanks to everyone who posted images with their label type. Still curious to see more of the matte laminates, while awaiting samples from Gear.

I had @Gear and @Wifey make me some MGM quarter and fiver labels to complement some Foxwood's MGM Grand $1s for a mixed cash set. Colors are spot on:

They also helped with some frac IG labels:

I'll also say this - IMHO, the true measure of a good company is not when they get things perfect, it's how they respond when things don't go as planned. When I got my labels, there were a few sheets missing. I reached out to @Gear and @Wifey to explain that some labels were missing, and they verified something went awry on their end, and had replacements shipped out within 2 days. Thank you again!

Very nice choice on the Boulder Station!

Thanks @Gear and @Wifey for El Borracho labels! My second go around for a custom re-label set and couldnt be happier with your level of service and product!

100 RPC $5s still to be labeled as I decided to get an extra rack recently but the El Borracho set is now complete with Tiger Palace NCV in the fold.

I know this is a Gear testimonial thread but a well deserved shout out to @LeGold for the custom dice, @Buge for running cut card group buys, @Johnny5 for designs, @Josh Kifer for milling and @all (too many to list) for the chips!

I'm not gonna lie, this might be one of the sickest sets I've seen here on the forum.
Incredible selection of chips. Love it!

This may not be a particularly large order but it’s my first from Gear. I’ve handled thousands of Sticker Mule and a number of alternatives. I can say for sure these are the best. The attention to detail from someone who knows chipping is invaluable to ensure the finished product matches at a level to satisfy even my level of OCD.

Also great for resurrection. Left is original.

Wow. Those $2’s as $25’s.. drooling

Haha, another Paris in a row. Very pleased with how it turned out. Frac colors look great on the mat, unintentionally matched my playing cards too .

It'll be a while before I get all the chips cleaned to relabel them, but here's where my current project is heading.

The bottom left chip is the original $1, but I don't often see the singles for sale so had to come up with a relabel $1. Think the pink frac plays in very well with the $5.

Some things are worth the wait!
Did the inlay removal myself…not fun, and thankfully I’m done. These Gear Labels make it all worthwhile.
A looooooot of communication back and forth with @Wifey just to make sure everything is perfect. Already looking forward to my next project with @Gear labels!
