Can we get a witness?

I am starting this thread, to have one place to gather all the different posts of jobs Gear has done.
I will post links to threads other people have started as I find them. :)

Feel free to add your story directly in this thread if you were happy with your transaction with Gear.
If we get a kudos from job outside the PCF (gasp!) we will post those here too.

@thyechal started this thread to showcase a full inlay replacement job Gear did for him to get some Casablanca $1's. It was painstaking work, but worth the time and effort.

@MaxB started this thread to show off his Casino Aztar set.

@Gear has done 2 jobs for me so far, and very, very satisfied with the results.

Oak Tree $.50 (1 rack)

Suicide King $100 (2 barrels)

So, by the law of exponentially-increasing proportions, we are on to the 3rd job - design currently in progress.:eek::eek:

I need to take some better pics, but here are a couple as placeholders... The Aztars (can you spot the fakes?) and the Insert Coins

Also found the original custom Aztars (before I decided that they all needed to be RHC). You'll notice that some of those chips are now relabeled as Insert Coin chips :)

@T_Chan was Gear's first big job. He started this thread to help Gear get his start. The picture links seem to be broken so here are a few I took.

Yes unfortunately a lot of the photos I posted were directly linked from the old poker table forum which was shut down so many of my photos are gone :( I should have photobucketed.

Gear did an amazing job with my order(s). I first ordered roughly 5560 laminated labels. I removed all the labels off of the Monte Carlo Yin Yang chips, which were some cheap metal slugged chips, and to my pleasant surprise Gear's labels were better quality than the original labels. The original labels came of relatively easy but when I applied one of Gear's labels, it was harder to remove if I had to reposition it. It did come of cleanly and I was able to reapply it without trouble though which was good as it meant no waste. I didn't have to throw it away just because I didn't align it correctly on the first go. I didn't throw away a single label after the full run.

Being the first larger order, there were some labels that weren't as centered as I would have liked. Gear had them reprinted without question.

Then I bought a second batch, another 2300ish labels to finish my addition to my set. Again, excellent quality, speedy work and good communication. I even rushed the job a little as I needed them in short order and they were done with enough time for me to apply them. This batch was perfect and I didn't need any replaced or reprinted.

He also provided extras both times just in case.

A++, 5 stars, two thumbs up.

Beautiful job, but makes me very sad at the same time.

Sorry about that. At the time I was more into the Casablanca than anything else. Now that I have a little experience as a chipper, I know that many chippers are against destroying good chips. But hopefully the great works done by Gear sorta make up for my sins :)

On the one hand, I figure they're your chips, so do what you want. On the other hand, some chips are too nice or too valuable to permanently change. The Emerald Casino $2.50s were right on that line... the rest of the set is (also) gorgeous, but who really uses snappers in most common poker games? Making a more useful denomination for another set that is lacking in that denomination seemed like a benefit that outweighed the cost, but it was a close call.

There's a thread right now about relabelling Stratosphere $4 drop chips, and I would definitely try to talk someone out of removing those inlays if I were approached. Having said that, there are lots of chips out there that have terrible inlays (that's small-T terrible! ;)) or boring/meaningless hotstamps that I have no problem removing or milling.

TL;DR -- I'm not a butcher ;)

As the highest EP denomination is $100, the $2.50 can be perfectly used as a $250 to replace the missing $500. EPs are awesome. I've sold my set to liftapint and dearly miss them, but at least I know that she really loves them, too ;)

Btw, the first generation of EP chips - with shaped inlays - was even nicer, but the $100 is the only first generation denom that made it from the ship in playable quantities.

Wow, that is all I can say.

I recently ordered some labels in three different styles and just received them. @Gear made sure the colors looked great. Now having seen them in person i am very impressed. Once I get these on the chips I know they will look like it was a part of the original set. I sent pictures of the original chip next to the labels to the other purchasers and they loved them. Just wait until you guys see them in person.

I will post pics when I get them on the chips!!!

Thank you @Gear and @Wifey

Ok thought I would show you one of the chips I ended up testing the labels on. I still have more to do but I am pleased with the outcome.

Thanks @Gear and @Wifey

Here is the completed rack. The new addition to the Trop Family

I recently purchased some .25c labels to go on some aztar snappers. Turned out great!
Colours matched perfectly! I was a little worried about how it would look / workout with the label over the inlay but with the non laminated labels gear suggested everything turned out great.
