Hi, guys. I wanna here your strategies with some of these outlandish games.

Familiar Games already have formulated strategies. Especially those you see at WSOP.

I know this forum might be a bit messy so let's discuss one game at a time and move on to the next one once we get bored.

The first game we are going to discuss, Draw-Deucey Triple Draw (Fixed Limit or Pot Limit)

From what I see, you can't scoop a pot with this one. However, you can still aim for both and hit half.

Let me know your thoughts about this game and how you'll pay it.

In general, when playing a new game I adopt a "nut peddling" strategy. That normally mean folding a lot and being vulnerable to getting bluffed. But it also means rarely getting stacked when I think I have a "good" hand but am really, really misguided.
I understand that you'd adopt that strategy for a new game. But what if that's no longer new to you?

This time, let's discuss about Draw-Deucey Triple Draw. Either Pot or Fixed Limit.

You can't really have a "nut" hand here because scooping is impossible.

I'm thinking a blend strategies of 5CDH and 2-7TD.
As with the low part of the hand, hitting a low straight wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'd be glad to share my strategies with you privately for a small fee. :D

This is probably not the one you want to start with as most people are unfamiliar with draw, 2-7 and badugi. Omaha variant or stud would probably draw more interest.

As @Jeff already said what I charge for lessons please come join us in Memphis in June and I'd be happy to teach you any game you want to know.

Draw-Deucey Triple Draw hasn't been played at any PCF meet-up or home game that I've attended, which is an embarrassingly large number. So it might not be a good game to start with; however, here are some games that would probably result in some interesting strategy and hand discussions.
  • Scrotum8
  • Draw2Maha
  • SOHE
  • 3-Hand Holdem (and 3-Hand Holdem8 variant)

big fan of 5 card Double board Omaha. aka "Gods Game" it will get played at EVERY meet up. and probably one of the most called for games.

as far as folding the nuts go @CraigT78 ... i think its becoming a habit. Just this Saturday (Sunday morning) around 5am in Dbl board Omaha i fold the nuts on 1 board to a shove, 3 handed. I had nothing on the other board, but didn't see the weird nutted str8 on the other board. It didn't cots me a lot of $, but definitely had me tilted for a while after.

NEVER AGAIN !!

Well then. Then let's talk about Draw2Maha instead.

Returning to Draw-Deucey for the backstory . . .

As a listener of the Top Pair Home Game Podcast I've been aware of their Game Wheel (link on the top right of their home page). In some of their mixed games, a player will spin the wheel to determine the next game. I had already made cards for every game on the wheel (and them some) except for Draw Ducey, and for PCF folks who incorporate the wheel into their game, I thought we should have a card. I reached out to Bruce Briggs, one of the hosts, for an explanation of the game

Draw Ducey (I normalized the name to Draw-Deucey) was invented by the podcast's tech/production guy, who also designed the game wheel and placed it on their website. It's basically a split-pot 5-card draw game with half the pot going to the best 5-card draw hand and half going to the best deuce to seven (Kansas City) lowball hand, Jack qualifier on the low. It can be played fixed or pot limit, single or triple draw. A maximum of 2 cards can be drawn at any single draw opportunity. The only opportunity to scoop a hand is when is no qualifying low and two or more players are playing for high.

I haven't played this game yet.

Looking forward to the discussion of Draw2maha.

Draw2maha - easy. Fold until someone goes to bed and you can play full Drawmaha.
:cautious: Okay, seriously Craig. If you happen to find another user whose not interested in Draw2maha, then let's talk about a game you like.

Meanwhile, let's get back at the discussion of the game.

Has there anyone, who played normal Dramaha, ever drawn three (3)?

The incentive of Draw2maha is allowing an additional player to join the game.

I love Drawmaha. Draw2maha is the less fun step sister that you have to take to prom as a wingman. You're buddy is getting a good time, you? Not so much.

Drawmaha is best played when the hero has had at a minimum of 6 beers. I only play connected draw hands, or when I have a minimum of a face card pair or better pre-flop.

I'll wait to post any after flop strategy after others chime in.

So, if flopping quads is the only case you'd draw three. That'd mean, you bet. They fold. Unless someone is dealt straight flush that is.

Wait, a minute.

Board is paired. Bluff. Draw Three.

This is something you can do if you have trips. Even if the board has a draw.

You can't do this in Draw2maha

Interested in trying this game. I assume the "jack qualifier" means that you can't have higher than a jack for the low hand?
