Just some help fellas. Usually 8 deep buyin is 40 with unlimited rebuys.
.25/.50 blinds

Asking because I want to snag some chips from the ABC sale, budget is $300ish

Given the multiples, you're looking at 8 fracs minimum, 12 better, 16 nice and 20 for moar chips. Then I would do as many $1s as I can to encourage action.

With a budget of $300, that means ~400 chips.
12x fracs per player = 96 so make that 100x .25
200 x $1 and 80x $5 = total bank of $600
You can add 20x $20 to fatten up the bank to a total of $1k

I'd agree with the 400 chip set breakdown for 8 players, but would distribute the chips differently for the $40 buy-ins:

12/22/3 for the first 8 buy-ins (4/24/3 for the ninth, 8 x $5 for all others). You want all 100 x 25c and 200 x $1 chips in play asap.

Alternately, you can issue 20/25/2 to the first four players, and 0/25/3 to the next four. All subsequent buy-ins are 8 x $5. Much easier to manage.

I would normally say 100 quarters per table. But usually I am thinking in terms of 500 or 600 chips sets. I would consider cutting back if you are going for 400. Maybe you can try to get by on 80?

Alternatively, you could do a .50-.50 game using .50 fracs instead of .25 and get by with very few.

There are certainly ways to make 400 chips work and I think getting in on the @ABC Gifts and Awards sale is a great idea. Just wanted to give you ideas with fewer blind chips so you can maximize the bank you can cover.
