I did a little cleaning this weekend. These were tougher than normal. I had to give them a one, two punch. Ultrasonic didn’t quite do the job (especially the edges). So I had to finish them up by hand.

Ultrasonic is by no means foolproof. Lots of chips in suboptimal storage conditions have surfaces that have undergone chemical reaction, and will need to be cleaned with a magic eraser. No ways around it, I'm afraid.
 
I’ve found ultrasonic does great on casino hooker juice gunk, but it doesn’t get everything off of old, “dirty” chips. These are old (60’s or 70’s, I suspect) home used chips. Much different from casino-used.
