but its so fluffy, snowblower can tear through it even at full speed

Same, we lucked out and were in the very fringes of the icing, so the snowblower did the trick just fine. We got a little over a foot here but drifts two to three times that. All done digging out, wish I had @joeyshin 's resolve to head back outside for a smoke but I'm toast. Cheers gents.

but I wouldn't call this a "storm" for these parts

What you lake-effect snow people experience is truely something else. Here in Pittsburgh we get what the news likes to call lake effect snow. However, the first time I experienced true lake effect snow up in Erie made me realize the news can no longer be trusted.

Lol, it is funny. We do get amusement when a little snow falls in some places that don't typically deal with this and it turns into a mass freakout panic event. These are the fun times of winter. I'd rather deal with snow than floods, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, Florida (in general Florida is a natural disaster), etc.

Agree with @ThinkingFold. We get a foot of snow once a decade in Pittsburgh. And it's a normalcy in erie and Buffalo.

I have had to ride back home from Buffalo many times for my kids ice hockey tournaments in white out or icy roads. F that stuff on a regular basis.
The summers up there are unbelievable beautiful. But hell no for the winter treachery.

done
2 hours last night, 2 hours today
not sure what would have been easier,
doing it all at once with the sleet layer on top,
or chopping that damn sleet layer with snow on top off the ice-magnet pavers like I had to do today
either way, my back is killing me now
