Snowmageddon 2026 (3 Viewers)

Well, you live in Fancytown, USA lol.
BRO. I live in the middle of nowhere! It's NH for crying out loud!

We follow all the best house buying rules:

Step 1: Buy the best street in the worst town
Step 2: Buy high sell low
Step 3: Rent old home to folks with no credit
Step 4: Profit!

Is your driveway pretty long? $90 is a lot. See if you can get a price on the whole season. We have a short driveway, probably 3 car lengths deep so that's probably why our prices are a bit lower, though we get more snow than you, so I dunno. I looked and we actually paid $500 five years ago for the season, then we bailed after doing that for a few years, just wasn't worth it. Get a truck and put a plow on that shit, you'll feel manly in the process. So I'm told anyway. Win win.

I've also seen people put plows on their riding lawnmower, which is sweet.

This is what I have and we live in a ski resort area. Commercial snow plowers just trash your shit. “Me plow snow fast, me go vroom vroom”. And half the gravel ends up in one spot or over the retaining wall.
I have a three car gravel driveway about 150 ft long with a slight incline, and the blade on my machine is three ft wide. It takes about an hour and it’s kinda fun. I plow about 5-6 times a season.

Yeah, this is the way if you have the means. Plow guys definitely trash your stuff, just going as fast as they can to get to their next contract.

@AK Chip

I think anybody operating a city snowplow should be required to take a class in Alaska. Our guys are obsessed with seeing dirt. But our dirt roads are actually better if they leave a few inches of compacted snow on them. And the asses that plow their driveway right across the dirt road create a low spot and then potholes at the end of their driveway, and they take the crown off the road. Then they complain about the poor road in front of their house later in the year.

Get a 4-wheeler with a plow…I used to LOVE plowing my driveway.

It's a big country, both in terms of weather and infrastructure. Up here in the northeast, that isn't a thing.
Don’t forget to build big piles in front and behind yourcar so that you can use a space saver for a week despite what that idiot Mayor Wu says

We got about 20” it seems. I didn’t measure but my snow thrower is 16” high and I had to make 2 passes.

But I’m waiting for the kids to sleep so I can go outside and have a whiskey and cigar in the snow. One of my favorite things in winter. Pics will come later

For those of you who missed out on the bread, here's an easy recipe that will get you some bread in about an hour with things you probably already have in your house. It's so easy a bachelor can do it.

Beer bread

3 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1tbsp baking powder
1tsp salt

1 12oz can of beer
1 stick of butter (or 1/2 stick)

Mix all the dry ingredients together, after they are all mixed up slowly pour the beer into the dry ingredients while mixing it. After it is all mixed up (don't over mix it) put it in a greased bread pan. Melt your butter and pour it over the top of your dough. Put it in the oven at 375 for 1 hour. And you'll have some pretty delicious bread.

Simple and light beers have the best results IMO. I usually use coors Light. Typically I'll double the recepie and get a 24oz can and make 2 loafs. It's great toasted the next day. It's easier to cut the slices while it's in the pan as the butter makes the outside crunchy.

I just went out for the first pass and there was over a foot. Which seems like a lot considering it’s supposed to keep snowing for another 12-24 hours.

Hours ago the big dog had snow up to his belly.

The puppy now has to jump through the snow because the kids left the shovels somewhere in the yard (long buried now), and the snow is at her head. Super awesome while potty training.

Everytime she comes back in, she immediately runs to a vent for heat  :ROFLMAO:

same. but its so fluffy, snowblower can tear through it even at full speed.

Our snow turned to sleet during the day. It’s compacted down and not powder at all anymore. I was scared it would turn to chunks of ice by morning so I decided to get it over with my snowblower. It had a tough time. Usually it walks itself through the snow but I had to push it the entire way. Wasn’t easy

yeah, i definitely don't envy you guys down in the ice zone. stay safe out there.

We had a lot of sleet overnight. Streets were all white and icy today but still not super slippery since it was still sleet and would compress some for traction as we walked on it. Kids had some fun sledding down the hill while the sun was out, but some of the sleet on the roads started to melt. Now we're back down to the teens so that water will turn back into solid ice overnight.

Tomorrow is a stay home and don't go anywhere type of day. Schools are cancelled and everyone is told to stay put unless it's an emergency. I spent a little bit of time digging through the ice enough to get my gates open so we could get to our trash cans. Also spent some time grilling outside to make some vietnamese grilled chicken sandwiches and my wife made a big pot of pho :P

When I get bored, I cook and eat lol.

Every winter storm we get, I end up sitting outside on the front driveway and having a beer or something too. This morning I made a coffee and sat outside in the sleet watching the kids play. There's something relaxing about it.

Kids were feeling kind of sick and tired after the sledding so we just stayed inside but in the past we would start a fire on the solostove outside and make smores.

Did we just become best friends. 😂
