Shenanigans at the Barrel House (6 Viewers)

Dream Poker room!:):)
Can a clueless foreigner drive from Brooklyn Heights (where my base will be whenever I visit the US) to your place, based just on GPS, without any issues?
I 'm just struggling to give you my money, one day:LOL: :laugh:

Back to poker. Host gets it in preflop, is completely crushed, then runner runner suckout. Poker sorry @JMC9389

Late big stack and eventual chip leader at the chop.

Here's the final bounty board. Host's luck runs out when he runs middle pair into a set of kings (seriously who gets kings 3 handed!?!?!?), then the remaining two chop. Defintely an interesting night!, will have to mix this in from time to time (sorry @CantSpellPoker lol)

Always fun no matter what type of game we’re playing. I’m sure I’d have enjoyed the format more if I won a few more hands and lasted longer!

Thanks for the invite @Irish, a lot of wild hands. I would say it was the bounty game but I have a feeling that’s not the case.

Some day after thoughts on the progressive bounty. My new nickname for this game is "blood in the water" :LOL: :laugh: It was a lot of fun, especially amongst a group of players that mostly knew each other pretty well.

The game didn't play all that differently early from our standard bounty tourney, we had 3 rebuys in the first two hours, and I'd say the action was largely driven more by the cards and player styles then by the differnet format. A lot of guys were expecting a bloodbath early, but that really didn't happen.

Play did loosen up towards the middle of the game as bounty values got bigger. One our more LAGy players had a few early knockouts at one table, and as his bounty value increased, you saw a lot more players trying to bait him into more pots. He lost a big hand, was down to like 4 big blinds with a $120 bounty and it was like a feeding frenzy lol, everyone waiting for him to finally go all in. Lots of isolation bets. But then as we got to the end of the night, things tightened up again as folks realized that unless you knocked off one the bigger guys at the end, you were walking home with like $20. Final four players had bounty values of $170, $110, $40 and $40 - so there were 2 players who made the "money" without knocking anyone out. 4th place bled out and ended up with $17 on the night (no knockouts). A big hand between the two big stacks crippled one (yours truly), but it wasn't a knockout and my bounty ended up going to the third player the next hand. Keeping a very accurate count of your chip stack is a must in this game. Final two chopped at the end, largely because there was so much to lose by playing it out. I would suspect that many of these get chopped by the final 2 or 3 players.

Overall IMHO it made for a fun change of pace. Having both the white board to keep the bounty values updated and bounty chips on the table was a key in keeping the game moving. It was a little much to handle all the updating with one person (doing the split, cashing in the chips, updating the board, then updating the tournament director), so I'd recommend anyone trying this have a helper with this aspect. @CantSpellPoker was a big help last night with updating the board, very much appreciated bud.

It’s easy to lend a hand when you’ve busted out and are sitting around for no reason! Lol

I didn’t really consider just how important exact chip counts are with this particular format. We had a couple instances later in the game where a minuscule stack difference made a big cash impact.

Example: Player A and Player B got it all in with stacks of about 7,500 each. Player A had a big bounty value at this point ($120 i believe). Player B won the hand, but it turns out that Player A had B covered by only 300 chips. So even though Player B doubled up, he missed out on $60 guaranteed cash that he would have won had he been the one with more chips. And while doubling up is nice and all, it doesn’t mean much since the prize pool winnings are minuscule.

Chip counts and all in strategies definitely become different and more important than a regular game in the middle stages of this format.

Pocket Kings was a cursed hand last night. Reaped the benefit after my aces cracked villain's kings earlier in the night (was pictured above), but got crushed by the open ended straight draw with @Irish calling my pot bet preflop. I was getting tired and had to come in to work today, so I'm not all too upset about losing that hand, but the moral of the story is to not agree to work the day after a tournament here. I was 6th place (I think?) out of 14 and was playing for 4 hours without any rebuy!

Thanks again for having us! This game was a PCF'ers dream with awesome CPC customs (the $500 and $1000 chips were my favorites in person), good company, good beer, and would be remiss to not mention the hot dog roller!

Was awesome to meet @Irish ,@CantSpellPoker , @Phish1321 even if you guys are Devils fans :p and @sgago84 as well. Thanks for the cool dealer button, Sam!

If you do progressive bounties again, try using $5 cash chips instead of a whiteboard. It's what we do.

We did both(chips & whiteboard), the proteges were the "cash" chips for the bounties.

If you don't mind, what are the chips behind these glasses in the case?

Black Sands on the left, custom bcc t mold hot stamps on the right.

Some more late night hands....

Tonight ended up being a mini PCF meetup!

@CantSpellPoker
@Phish1321
@sgago84
@JMC9389

....great to have you all back to play some cards! And...

@LordEpyon
@Nuhockey

it was great to meet you both! Hope to have you back at the Barrel House soon!

For all those following, don’t play bomb pots.
Bomb pots are never a bad idea.

Thanks again for having us @Irish . Pleasure meeting the button man himself @Nuhockey and @LordEpyon .

I'll bring more than one buy in for the next cash game for sure. Admittedly last night was a combination of mistake after mistake and not catching anything when I did get in, so only bringing one buy in was probably best in the long run for me! Still had a lot of fun and got to play on an awesome table with awesome chips and great company. Ok, awesome company too.

Another great night @ the BH, per usual, despite losing a whole buy-in in the first 20 minutes. At least i got myself back to dead even on the night.

And it was a real privilege to play with the PCA’s. Next time I’m hoping a couple of green birds find their way onto the felt, they are really spectacular. But the $5’s are pretty sick too!

Thanks Matt (@Irish)for allowing me to play in your game. It was great meeting a bunch of fellow PCFers and playing in a home game which I have not done in years as my home games have dried up. I’ve been playing in casinos. Your setup and chip lineup are Great and the PCA chips were very nice. I look forward to the next game and want to see which chips are in play next. The wife didn’t seem to have a problem with a once a month game.

Despite getting crappy cards it was a Great Time. My new good luck Rooster Plaque was not so much good luck last night.

Thanks Again,
Mike
