Looking for a rack or two of PCA $5s. Somewhat recently traded two racks and obviously that was a mistake. :confused Oh well, back on the hunt. :) Offering a rack. I have a few PCA trade options ($500s, primary $1s, fracs, $25s). Also happy to buy out your entire PCA set if you are considering selling.

While I'm not exactly sure what your post means, I'll respond to what I think it means. I'm a few (+) drinks in so keep that in mind.

1.) I do feel somewhat the need to justify the asking price (and I might be a bit spring loaded to be a bit defensive - hence this post).
2.) I think there are fewer of these chips in circulation than expected.
3.) I think the value is arbitrary (I think the definition fits it well "based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system.") credit @Hornet not for his valuation of the $5 but for his use of the term that helped articulate how I was feeling.
4.) Arbitrary in especially in light of the value of boat chips. ES fracs go for $8.00 per chip. What's the difference in value?
5.) See point 1.

I haven't been around long but I think leaded Paulsons are becoming more and more rare. I think this trend is only going to continue with time. As the community grows and chips find their forever homes, leaded Paulsons are going to be less and less accessible. I think this process has been expedited over the last year with community events.

Hope you get a rack for $500. I really wish I had one to spare for you.

Nothing to defend...many before you did (more) crazy things to complete a set...don't worry about it.

For the die-hard PCA fans this makes clear that the days of affordable PCA set building are over....that's the reason of the long faces, nothing personal.
I already posted my POV about the value of these versus ANY other THC chip out there, so not going to repeat.

I for one will not be hunting any more racks from now on...3 is plenty
But I'm never selling either (unless to save lives)

Well said.

I love my set and if I needed $750+ right now I’d be tempted to sell. But the federal government just deposited $3600 into our bank account (me + wife + 4 kids). My wife said she would give me $600 to spend on whatever. I told her to keep it in the savings, I don’t have anything to spend it on right now. We will continue to support local stores and restaurants as much as we can.

Money seems plentiful right now, leaded shaped inlay Paulsons seem much rarer.

So don’t feel you need to justify what you are offering to pay, the heart wants what the heart wants!

That was the reason for my sad face. The state of chipping and how difficult, if not impossible, stuff is to come by these days. Oh well I guess. It was bound to happen sooner or later. I’m now in the same camp as @Thomacetti where I likely won’t be trading and selling that often anymore. Sadly. It was fun.

Just until TCR unearths another HUUUUUUGE THC casino set within 12 months (PCA, Empress, ... size)

I give it a 20-30% chance with the economy going down the drain

OR

a spectacular recovery once normal life resumes (and then prices of special chips will continue to rise)

Are there any casinos out there with an almost-all-THC lineup?

I typed a lengthy response, then deleted it. I have nothing else to say in this wanted ad. If you have any interest for further discussion feel free to PM me.

i Suppose it's possible that there are casinos with unused leaded THC secondary sets that have been sitting in their vault for 25 years. And I suppose it's possible that one of these casinos is in a state that will alllow somebody to buy out a used casino. And that this is a big casino with lots of chips. And it goes under and The Chip Room buys them out. Possible, but not likely?

I agree with this. Cash is quickly losing value in the community. What can you do with it when prices are climbing and members are holding onto their chips?

Missouri has a lot of Riverboat casinos. There is always a chance of an older one going out of business or being rebranded.

Its super tough. I'm not so attached to my PCAs that I wouldn't trade them for a leaded mint $5 replacement. But there's just so few options :(.

I was just saying the same thing. I'd be fine with Golden Eagles or those other orphans with the green and blue spots and the weirdly bad horse inlay? Silver something maybe? But aside from those and the PCA's, I can't think of any other leaded THC $5s in mint condition, out there in quantity.

For 750/rack...please go visit Spinettis and see what they can do for you.
Maybe just browse today and contact them tomorrow via the chat on their site link

@Spinettis Gaming

There are more ways than one to skin a cat ;)

Silver Palace I believe... yes please. I need 5s!
