final stack. I think I won $2k, or within h a few dollars that it doesn’t matter.
Just finished, we were 4 handed when my wrap turned the nut straight and was bet into by 2 pair and a flush draw. I raised to $350 and was called by the guy on my left. Other two fold. He has a bare flush draw that missed. Both the other guys had flush draws as well so he was drawing very thin. Game ended then, the other 2 didn’t want to play 3 handed.

The second best thing about last nights game after winning was taking so much of it from this guy that turned every 2 pair hand into a full house at the last game. He played the same way again last night but his mediocre hands didn’t turn into gold this time! He gave back over $2k of what he won from this stack.

The TRK’s have had the longest wait so far, but they are going to have to wait a little longer still (part of the reason of I’ve been willing to sell them) in favor of the mixed set which has had the next longest time from the felt.

Agree 100%. I sent out some harsh texts stating as much. They all apologized and promised it won’t happen again. They are all on the bottom on the invite list now.
The real problem is the harm it does long term. The other players that did show may be more likely to not play worried it will happen again.
The only good thing is the players that came know they all said they were coming because I sent the invite in a mass text that they all replied that they were coming. So they know I didn’t lie about how many players were supposed to be to be playing.

Such bullshit and agreed with @MrCatPants its definitely the most frustrating part of hosting. I had a new(er) PFCer say him and a friend were coming to my last game, no show no text not even a PM with a sorry I forgot the next day. Welcome to my blacklist.

Received this gift from my wife today. Her family owns a gas station/ convenience store and were selling off a bunch of the older neon signed that have been replaced. She snagged this one for me before someone could buy it. Nice addition to the poker room bar area.
How would you rate texting you half an hour before the game to say that unfortunately they can't make it?
No mention that their kid, wife or pet had to be rushed to a doctor or something.
From one of my best and most consistent players who had been notably polite as a person.

That still sucks and I would ask why he couldn’t make it and would let it go. But if it happened again on such short notice I would make much more of an issue about it.
As I told the guys that no showed it’s not just me they are letting down, it’s everyone else that committed to the game. We are not a casino that is open to the public where someone else can easily be found to fill the seat.

Better than nothing honestly. But I've had that scenario take a table from 7 to 6, or 6 to 5 before, and since then I've started checking with my players 24 hours in advance to reconfirm, when I'm "on then order", and that seems to work well to prevent late cancels when im a little shorthanded.
If it's one time and coming from someone who typically is a reliable player, I'd give him a pass. I'd take that any day over a complete no-show, that at least gives me the opportunity to start texting folks to either fill the seat or cancel the game. Now if that becomes the norm, they'd likely be off the invite list pretty quick. I've lost of a lot of my patience for nonsense in my old age

Can relate to all of the above. I always had a couple of home games hosted by others that I frequented. They use to be over flowing. They stopped hosting because of some bs as previously noted. Now that I’m in a position to start hosting, seems rough to get going. Everyone’s older now!?
Older is by no means a problem in itself; I would say the contrary. But it usually also means children, and most importantly and sadly

I had a friend of mine about 10 years ago no show for a game. He was only a twice a year kind of player. Very reliable once he committed. About three hours into the game he called. He was a disaster on the phone. He had went to his FIL house and found him dead in a recliner from a heart attack. He apologized for no showing. So I banned him. J/K, lol.
Well it not like his FIL was going anywhere. I mean, priorities right? I'm just saying.
Two no-shows with no call, email, text you are banned for the season. We have been playing for 12+ years, pretty much 100% response/notification, people who don’t, don’t make it back on the invite. I understands things happen, just tell me, even if it is later.
