Week 2 of my PLO training class. I’ve been helping a friend transition from super Nit Hold’em player to a PLO player. He loves the game and how much more action there is, especially for someone that only gets to play once a week for 4-5 hours.
Dealing 6 hands, we each control 3 and discuss each hand afterwards. Playing $2/5 with $500 starting stacks tonight.

My friend called to tell me he played his first casino session of PLO. He loved all the action and big pots! For his first session he did very well, he broke even!
He followed my advise and bought in short so that he could get all in on any flop with a big draw or strong made hand. First two buy-ins he lost with flopped top set each time when a flush and straight beat him. Third buy in he won a bigger multi-way pot when his middle set and flush draw filled up on the river. After that he was even and left shortly after.
He wanted to thank me for the help because he knows he would have went bust early and often over playing KKxx & QQxx type hands not realizing they aren’t strong PLO hands.

Game is on for Thursday this week. I will be putting the PCA’s in play and serving corned beef that my wife will be making in the slow cooker. The last time we had it is when @detroitdad and @Marc Hedrick came down to play. By the end of the night there wasn’t a slice left!

Still in for $500. Lost the biggest single pot of the night. I had a wrap and a heart draw. Other guy had 2 pair and clubs. Unfortunately I made my straight on the river as he made his flush. Bounced right back after that though.

We had an early end to the night surprisingly. By 2:30 everyone left. The other big stacks were in for a lot so they were risking a lot of their own money and since I had a big stack as well they didn’t want to risk their stacks it seemed.
I won just over $1700, covering my loss from the last game.

And this is how I keep the kids occupied when I’m going on 3 hours of sleep and have a headache. I didn’t drink a lot, but I had several different beers including a bourbon barrel aged that was pretty strong, 1 car bomb, and 2 small glasses of bourbon.
The corned beef was amazing! I was hoping there would be a piece at the bottom of the pan when the game ended, but that was wishful thinking.

We play Hold’em and PLO round by round until midnight. After midnight it is dealers choice between the 2 games which means we play just PLO lol.
I have 500 of the PCA $5’s, I had 800 of them but traded part of the set for a TRK set.

This week has been crazy and thankfully I didn’t have the game yesterday or it would been canceled.
Ran great early but ended up giving a decent amount of it back later in the night. Big hit cane when I flopped top pair, wrap, and open ended straight draw vs two pair, open ended straight draw with a better flush draw. We got all-in on the turn and her two pair held up.
