Best part is, you're in a no-lose scenario. New position would be cool, but you are not out of work.

It's a employment freeroll! (y)

Its funny that you said that. I used the same terminology when speaking with a co-worker on MON. When I dropped "free rolling" she gave me an odd look.

Congrats, but this new job better not interfere with any planned trips to Florida SQM-ish...

This position won't affect my attendance. My 30th Anniversary celebration is.

PSA: Salaries are negotiable in most cases, don’t be the first one to throw out a specific number and remember polite counteroffers (from you) are fair game.

Its a lateral move. Same job classification. There is a small stipend attached to it, but that is it. I'm doing this more for the change, and the experience

Congrats!!
Good Luck on your new job, Bill!

How exciting to consider a change after all the time you’ve given to your current position!

It is exciting. I've pretty much been doing the same thing for the last 20 years. 8 years ago I took the off site position. Same type of work, but a change in the philosophy of how it's done.

This change is a 180 to what I've been doing.

Thanks guys!

I'm not going to miss these types of calls. I'm waiting to escort a terminated staff member out of the building.

Did the person actually do anything to warrant being treated like a hostile subject, or is it just company policy or something?

HIPPA violations against co workers (big fricken violation), then threats to staff when she found out they were being investigated. No, its not company policy. Only when there is a concern of theft, MDOP, or violence.

Oh, wow, that's a legit reason to escort someone out.

I know of some companies that have abruptly laid people off and had them escorted out just because they were being overly cautious when there was no real threat of anything. Always struck me as very insulting to not only axe a guy but to treat him like a threat to everyone's safety without a real reason. (Obviously not the case here, though.)

I agree. No, it isn't our policy. There has been a few times that I have suggested "not" escorting someone out because I didn't feel it was worthy. I'm still present in case any problems arise. I've been doing this for a couple of decades. I've escorted probably a dozen people out. Only one went a little sideways.

When I worked for a bank in a call centre years ago they used to escort people. I remember resigning, being told they’d pay me out my 4 week notice period and that i just needed to finish out the day. I then got escorted out by two managers lol. It probably looked weird because I was still grinning about my 4 week payout. It was right before my uni exams too. Winning.

I've been in the new gig for about 5 weeks now. I'm having a blast! The work is fun. I'm doing a ton of presentations. I'm part of several teams that are initiating new in service training sessions for the community. The Community Engagement Team that I'm part of is a really good group of people.

I've mostly been non stop busy for the last 5 weeks. Busier than I've been in a long time. Since it is all "fun" work I don't mind. My PCF activity has definitely diminished because of it it. That is probably a win for you guys :)

Glad to hear it. Having a job/career that you enjoy is SO important!

Thanks. Not once have I thought "Damn, I have to go to work tomorrow".

I've known my new supervisor for the last 20 years. We have only worked together a little bit. He is as awesome as I thought he would be. Plus they encourage you to use your one hour on the clock work out time. I'm back to swimming/treadmill 4-5 times a week. Hell, last week I hit 1.3 miles in the pool (41 laps).

Its exciting times for me!

that's fantastic! I hope your day doesn't get ruined when Sparty beats up on the Wolverines today!

I don't have any money on the game so I don't really care to be honest. I'm not a big college sports guy.

Quick update. I've been in this gig for going on two years. It is a blast. It is the most fun I have had working since I was a Canine Officer. This position is set to expire in JAN. We've been requesting an extension for awhile now and haven't gotten a work. A new Community Engagement position was posted back at the Medical Center (same department that I'm currently working in). There are a few things that I don't like about it. They are minor. I will be submitting my cover letter and resume tomorrow. Thanks for the proof read @WedgeRock He made about 17 pages worth of suggestions. Damn I feel stupid lol.

It does come with a 7% pay raise (well, 5.5 after the parking fees).

My current supervisor is the best one that I have ever had. He is retiring in 243 days (he tells us every day). The letter of recommendation that he wrote for me absolutely blew me away. I knew that he thought highly of me, and my work ethic on the team. Wow...........

Anyways. Just thought I would share since you guys have kind of been on this journey with me.
