I’m excited to finally share my first set of Paulson chips, the Red Desert Card Room!

You all are an influential bunch - after 4 months on the forum and sets of super diamonds, slugged plastics, China clays, and ceramics, I’ve finally assembled my first set of Paulsons. Built around some of the affordable mint Paulsons available during the Chip Room Black Friday sale, I was able to build this set within my student budget.

Being born and raised in Southern Utah, I’m rather fond of the desert. I grew up playing on the red rocks around my home town and often visited the many gorgeous national parks around the state. I love the sun, I love the heat, and I love the allure of the west. The desert is my home, and while I’m on the other side of the country I miss it every day. Knowing that I’ll eventually make my way back, I wanted to create my first set to remind me of my ultimate goal to settle down in that amazing place.

When it comes to Utah and deserts, you’d be hard pressed to find an image more iconic that the arches of Moab. Tim knocked the design out of the park rather quickly and Gear made the perfect labels. It’s not a huge set, it doesn’t have the rarest chips, but it’s mine and I love it. Thanks for checking it out and enjoy the pr0n!

Awesome set!! Moab is gorgeous too, I loved seeing that beautiful landscape, can’t wait to go back one day

Thank you! I agree - I think the whole state is gorgeous (although I may be a little biased). Hopefully you go once I’m back and we can get some meetup going!

Awesome job, congrats! Just goes to show what you can do when you've got a small budget — but a big imagination.

I still think that IOC fiver is one of the most underrated chips available for the price. I've been waiting for someone to re / overlabel them, and they look even better now.

Any idea when you'll be able to felt them?

Thank you! I agree, the IOC five is SO vibrant in person, the colors really pop.

I could technically felt them tomorrow - a group of us students are lucky enough to be vaccinated and play every week. However, our group is still somewhat new to poker and living off student loans for the most part (I have side income from previous businesses) so our stakes started at $5 buy-ins. We’ve moved up to $10, and hopefully we can move up again sometime soon (this set can do $25, $50, and $100 buy-ins).

I totally understand wanting to get this amazing set in play.

If you want to get these on the felt, you could do a tourney—T100 starting stacks, blinds start at .25/.50.

Or, do stakes divided by ten. $5 gets you $50 in chips. You’d basically be playing 2.5¢/5¢ blinds.

Just make sure all the chips are accounted for at the end, so no one pockets a 5 or 25 for easy profit later.

@Gear, for some reason it won’t let me tag you in the post but I though you would want to see how they look!

Beautiful set! Very well done!

Love Moab! Can’t wait to drive back there.

Thanks so much! If you haven’t been to Zion you need to add that to your list, it’s my favorite national park in the state.

Congrats! The inlays go really well with the chip colors in addition to being a fantastic design. Bravo!
