I enjoyed the threads by @detroitdad and @Sparty and the comments as to why they ranked where they did.

So in that spirit rank my 4 Paulson sets. Use whatever criteria you feel as to which is the “best” to “worst”.
I’m not included all my sets because I don’t think it is fair to compare ceramics and customs to Paulsons. Trying to keep it a level playing field.

The sets are:

Casino Cancun
Carnevale Cardroom
PCA
Mixed THC

All great sets, Adam!

I'd put the PCAs at the top, then it's a close race between the Cancuns and Carnevales with the Mixed THC set trailing closely behind, but only because I typically don't favor sets with different inlays.

Again, all great chips!

I'm with Paulo...but indeed all great sets

Mixed
Pca
Cancel
Carnival

Mixed set and pcas are almost a toss up for me. Mixed with a slight edge maybe.

Always liked that cancuns for an rhc set so that gets #3. Dont know why but the carnival chips just dont do it for me.

Wow, those are all great. And your breakdown is wonderful with plenty of $5’s in all of them!

If I had to choose I think PCA is #1 (as a set).

I would put the mixed set right behind that (those $5’s would win for me if it was based on chips and not sets).

Cancun and Carnavale would be last in that order, both of which I like very much.

Yup.

1 PCA
2 Mixed
3 Carnivale
4 Cancun - since you asked, I think the Cancun’s are one of the most underwhelming, overpriced sets we’ve ever seen on the forum. I know they came along during a dry spell though, so people bought them.

I think the only chip that is underwhelming is the $25. A 4 color $5 is pretty awesome. Also leaded I believe. The $1 is pretty standard for a lot of comparable sets. But the inlay is what sold me on the set. It fun and colorful and well laid out. It is a lot better than the Jack and Horseshoe inlays we have seen lately.

Have you ever handled them? The fives are awesome in person.

I haven’t. And if they’re leaded, that would surely change my opinion. My anti-RHC bias can get in the way of fair evaluations.

Nothing wrong with a great RHC set...if the price is right.

If I look at prices of current THC-sets...i'm happy to have plenty of love for RHC, BCC, solids, ...

From chippers POV I prefer to have a few different sets then one big (very expensive) one.
Sure, I love nosebleed vintage leaded shaped inlays THC's...but many chippers complain about THC/Paulson prices and forget there are great BCC & ASM/CPC chips out there for bargain prices.

We should rate more sets with price in mind...obv that a 5K set often gets more love then a 1 or 2K set, but is that always the best buy ?

Remind me to send you a shuffle stack of minty leaded RHC when I have a shipment to US...you will be amazed (sheraton roulettes)
about 11g per chip....then shuffle some 8 gr boat chips ;) and we'll talk again.

Ps. PCA $1 are also leaded RHC's
