Questionable hand at my home game (2 Viewers)

I'm on a beach, sipping on a Pina colada. I've told you where to look, I'm sure you're capable of doing the rest...

get back to beaching and drinking it’s way higher EV than debating with randos on the internet!

It's TDA rule #16.

It does exist, as far as I know, for the purpose of preventing collusion.

It is not the norm in cash games.

And TDA stands for… tournament directors association. As you said, wouldn’t be the norm for obvious reasons!
Yes. TDA rules overtook Robert's Rules as the popular reference for cash games years ago, but there are certain rules that are tournament-specific, and this is one of them.

It is a little unfortunate that we have a rule book named "Tournament Directors Association" governing what goes on in cash games, with parts of it left to the reader to interpret whether they should apply to certain games or not.

Maybe I should pause work on NHAV2 and write Jim's Rules of Cash Poker instead.

I'm not presenting any point. You asked where the rule was being talked about by others was located. I told you what rule book it was in, and you got pissy.

Have a nice day,
.

I love how passionately ya'll are taking this debate, but i think i've got enough info to cover the situation in the future. Yes, its a cash game and we didn't have a dedicated dealer. I don't expect everyone in a rotating deal to be scooping up cards the second they hit the felt. Maybe in a casino cash game, the dealer would have gotten the cards in before the realization set in. But at the same time I'll clarify: it's wasn't like the cards were thrown down, and then the dealer went and had a sandwich. yes the player with 9's made a mistake. yeah if it turned into a pattern we could start to get tougher on tabling cards versus mucking face down. But, there was enough time to correct a mistake at a home game between friends. i think it comes back to the comment where ruling in the best interest of the game makes sense. the only angle would have been the 9's losing on a technicality, which if he was pulling shit all night maybe we would enforce, but in the end it was solved in probably the best way it could have been.

I do really appreciate all the insights and spirited discussion though!
