First it's just a question.... Please keep the pitchforks in the barn.

Pic Credit: @fishsaybloop

Is there a weird texture on the clay on the face of these chips? The pic seems good but it could be the image.......

I think of those as “end of the batch” chips. Where they scrape the bottom of the mixer and take all the material they can, even the stuff that’s started to set up. So it’s not quite homogeneous, there is a film on it that shows in the swirls.

Like if you took a plastic bag and firmed it into a little disk, it’s all bag but there are boundaries that haven’t mixed.

So it's just some of them then or a common "defect", for lack of a better term?

Curious about these chips as well. I’ve seen some mention some barrels won’t fit into the unique racks. With prior “mint” chips, I have found that to mean there is a slight warpage in the chips, not that they’re just not “broken in”. Since I don’t have any, would love for someone to tap the top of a barrel edge, and see if there’s any “jiggle” in it or or of it stacks like bricks with no movement at all and report back.

I think modern Hot Stamps are prone to a bit of wiggle....

I would be curious to see if anyone else has chips, not from this series, with examples of this "characteristic".

Finally got my hands on some. Definitely have jiggle (slight warping) on the non-hot stamps straight from factory which is why they are tough to get in the Unique racks. Time for some moderate flattening work and I’m sure will fit just fine. Will report back on same. Beautiful chips though.

I've noticed it on a fair number of T25s. It does not affect the feel/texture of the chip, it's just the appearance. I wondered if oiling may effect it but didn't want to oil new chips.

I have noticed a higher than usual rate of slightly warped chips in the hotstamps but from reading it seems like its not uncommon for hot stamps.

Doesn't effect ability to stack but can be a slight wobble if one of the warped chips was in a stack. Seemed more prevalent in T500s (which I guess is best and there are the least amount on the table).

Visual for science. This is very common IMO based on other minty Paulsons I have gotten in the past, so I don’t think anyone asking for a replacement etc. is warranted, this is apparently just how they come off the line nowadays. Most people probably will not even care, but I would say this is definitely why they are too tight for unique racks. Little extra work to be done with flattening but that is only to suit my individual tastes and not required. I am very happy with them.

Cannot understand the issue here.
When it comes to durability, especially about chips falling on the floor, there is no match for CPCs.
Much sturdier than Paulsons.

Again, it’s simply because of the price paid for these that I might have a issue.

CPC for the win in this respect. My customs stacked like bricks. No wiggle whatsoever...

Don't think anyone here is arguing Paulson vs CPC in this thread.

But now that it's mentiong, the Tigers exemplify the biggest feature you can't replicate with CPC, the bright base and spot colours.

(For me) the tournament set does an amazing job of using a ton of these bright colours in a cohesive manner. It just works. Using a basic, repeating pattern likely helps. If there were a ton of different spots it'd likely degrade into a mish mash very quickly.

To be clear, I have no issues and do not want my post to be taken as a complaint in any way. The chips are awesome and I am very, very, happy to have them. Just letting folks know that if they are having trouble fitting them into Unique racks, this is why that is an issue, and it is easily addressed.

Just wanted to make sure people have seen this thread. Looks like @JeepologyOffroad has settled on Spinettis racks for the Tigers. I ordered 10 last night.

That’s fine, but again, for the type of money spent for these, I would expect some sort of disclaimer or the opportunity for replacement chips.
I get what yout saying but I suspect this is another reason Paulson won't ever go to the home market.

I couldn't imagine the casinos noticing or caring about any of these issues. It doesn't impact the performance of the chips in any way (used a bunch of the tourney chips saturday, not one complaint, no issues with chip stacking, etc.).

Could ypu imagine theit customer support after delivering chips to PCF customers. Lol

Does it look like the pic below? I've had some mint Paulsons that had this look of like a 'grain' (like on wood) but it's not 'textured", it's flat, and it went away after the chip was oiled.

The chip in the middle was oiled, where the chips on the left and right were not. These were mint roulettes.

I seem to recall a couple other darker color solid Paulsons I had this same thing, (black, red,) etc, but that it was mostly visual, and went away after the chip was oiled. (now if the chip dried out again, it might need to be re-oiled).

Yep it's exactly that. I've noticed it on many paulsons (and BCC) before this. Seems to be most common on hot stamps. Very dry.

I’m curious if Paulson includes any “extra” chips in their orders the way that CPC does.
