Are there any posts on the proper way to store chips?
Dealing with room temp, humidity, storage device.
My main concern is that I have a mix or plastic, China clay, composite chips, ceramics, Paulson casino chips, asm and bcc chips. Wondering if I should place these in racks if only used occasionally (once per month), in storage brief cases, flat on a shelf in stacks or in chip boxes. Location is in a cool basement, low humidity and no direct sunlight as far as UV purposes. Don’t want the nicer clay chips to warp.
Thanks for your opinions and facts!

Sounds like there may be a market for "chip humidors" (for lack of a better term) for some of us chip connoisseurs/nuts.

Best method.... I think.

You could do what the casinos do, play the hell out of the chips get them covered in gunk and rack them. The gunk is a preservative as I have found out after cleaning thousands of dirty chips (they come out pretty nicely) -- and they don't seem to warp either.

Tranquilo, amigo...mine have been in a drawer in a climate controlled room for 15 years with no damage whatsoever. Avoid super damp basements, direct UV/sunlight, desert conditions and natural disasters. Good chips are tough and who gives a crap about cheap ones...

So casino gunk is a preservative? How much will that cost me? Lol

How did you place them in a drawer? In racks or laid flat in stacks? Txs

Some in racks, some in a wood case, some in a carousel and some loose in a cigar box...all paulsons, asm, bcc tmolds and various samples.

I've had Paulsons in racks and birdcages, resting mostly in closets when not in use, for over 10 years. No problems, AFAICT.

Not the colors you're looking for...most of mine are already hot stamped and I have some chocolates and lavenders set aside to stamp for a micro set. HPC has the reds and chocolates, but you already know that.

For lots of protection, a Pelican case isn't a bad idea (I have the 1520, with all the chips in racks - though takes some time to configure the space). Wouldn't think its really needed, but you could put some silica gel packs in the case for a little extra.

I store both my china clay chips and Paulson chips in a wood case with glass lid in my basement. Paulson chips are fine, but china clay chips would faded in color if you do use them much.
