Hi everybody,

I have accept a job offer in Germany around Frankfurt, and I´m going to be some months around. I´m going to have free weekends and would like to play some poker. I have some questions:
- Are there any 24h casino 200km around?
- What are the best casino to play cash?
- Should I consider playing in Lichtenstein or Switzerland, Austria?
- Is there any control at the casino (buyin-cashout) for tax purpose?
- Does it make sense to think about playing online (from a tax point of view)?

Thanks Vielen dank :-)

Can't help but you probably want to add what stakes you're playing at.

Also, aren't all casinos in EU tax free ?

Thanks for your answer,

The thing is I haven't play live for a long while and I have to get the confidence back :-) (in the past I have played a lot). It would be super for me if I play like the first, lets say, 10 sessions and feel well about my game. Lets call this first sessions: "touching the chips".; the target is not making money, its more feeling a poker player. I hope it makes any sense.
I would feel comfortable till nl 2/4. If its not close to the place Im going to stay (and Frankfurt is a guess-but probable), I would say that 2/4 are the right stakes. But no problem playing very deep. By the way I prefer places people play with 3+fullstacks :-)
Rakrul, are you living in Germany or do you use to go? In Germany i have only played in Hamburg but that was many many years ago (but I have good memories :-))

Norway here, so I always have to travel to play (legal) cash games, but have a friend who has been touring Europe to play tournaments. I believe 2/4 doesn't exist any more, there's either 1/2 or 2/5. Also, the rake is usually horrendous, especially at lower stakes. You're probably raking somewhere in the 10-15bb/100 neighborhood so that will certainly take a chunk out of your win rate, just be aware.

I haven't played hold'em in a casino in years so I'm useless there. Europe's biggest casino is in Rozvadov on the Czech/German border but you want to hit it up when there's some bigger tournaments there to be able to table select.

There's also plenty of tables going on Amsterdam, London, etc. if you want to travel, I don't know much about german casinos but if you find one with regular PLO action in the weekends, let me know. :)

In southern Germany there‘s not a lot of good action. I live in Munich and I love going to Casino Salzburg for their lower tier tournaments. They have some 1/3 cash games but these stakes are too high for me. I play some 100-200€ Buy-In tournaments there. It’s actually a pretty big Poker area for the casino size and there is quite some traffic from international folks.
If Salzburg is too far, Spielbank Wiesbaden is also quite famous, although I have no idea how their Poker operation is setup, maybe check their website:
https://www.spielbank-wiesbaden.de/de/

They have daily 2/4 tables and the rake seems okay-ish

Spot in weisbaden is good.
Further south in landstuhl is a weekly game at a pub. Good spot to meet folks and get into other games. Siegelbach has a weekly tournament.
Kings casino is right inside the Czech border. Check out their website.

Good luck!

Ok, rake is perhaps a big concern. Thanks for remembering :-)
I have seen in that in Rozadov they make a lot of tournaments. That´s a good idea to play during some series or whatever but not for the Phase 0.1.
This city... Amsterdam... sounds good if I finally work in NRW or close to an airport :-)
I will come to you back when i find interesting PLO games, I just play holdem.
Thanks for your answer.
P.D. I was happy because I thought you can play online in WPT from Germany (and it looks like they play deep there). But its not the case.

Hi guys,

I´m going to spend some time near Dortmund. Is some of you regular at "Spielbank Hohensyburg" or has any kind of experience there. I have read they have a regular 5/10 game, and you have to make a reservation at the desk hours before the game runs, Im happy about any kind of feedback ;-)

Are there other players around Dortmund? Im going to be based in Lünen.

Thanks

By the way, where can you play legal online in Germany despite of GGpoker?

In Switzerland, cash game as we know it is not allowed in public. It has to have a tournament structure and max 300 buy in.
‚Time Poker‘ is a cash game variant with 2 or 3 blind levels in a given time frame.

In a normal Casino everyone just play against the dealer. Mega boring…

I don’t use to play in casinos because I usually suck at poker. You may pm the guys I‘ve tagged. They should be able to give you some good advices. GL
