hi guys,
i’m very new here and i came from hobbyphilic’s youtube channel, i’ve been watching his videos for a while now. i really like playing poker and i finally got a small group of friends/family to play with which is really nice. just with my short amount of time on the forum i’ve seen there is so much here and it’s so cool. i want to eventually be able to have fun home tournaments and a really nice setup like i’ve seen some of the other guys have on here. i’d be really cool to custom build a poker table and deck everything out for the game night. i look forward to reading more of your guy’s posts and learning here, thank you for the welcome!

i have a couple of questions if anyone has any answers that’d be amazing.
i went to the group buy section since i’m looking for new chips to replace my small monte carlo set, i saw under one of them for this month the 39mm chips were only $0.33 a chip. are these chips worth it? i’ve seen many other chips cost a lot more so the cheap price is throwing me off a bit. i saw some of the aria casino chips, are these chips from the actual casino? the chips seem really nice but i thought chips of this grade would come at a much higher price. any knowledge would help. once again thanks for the welcome guys!

Welcome.

The "Cards Mold" or "No Mold" chips that you would get from the group buy are nice quality ceramics. In my opinion they are a little less quality than the american made ceramics for less than half the cost. The reason they are so cheap is because they are made in China and because the group buy system essentially gives you the benefit of getting cheaper pricing because of the huge quantity that the people on here order.

The Aria chips you are referring to are probably the ceramic "tribute" chips. (There are some people who harvest and sell live chips but those are going to be sold at face value plus whatever the harvester wants to charge to make a little profit.)

Welcome,

There are likely some Aria live casino chips floating around in the classifieds, but there is also an Aria Tribute set that is china clay similar to the card mold.

I would recommend getting some samples of the chips you are looking at purchasing. Every month there is usually sample sets that hit the classifieds. You could also try a wanted ad.

Welcome to the group! My first set after dice chips was a Monte Carlo set. We still use them for cash games every once in a while. I am looking to get a set sometime in the near future from one of the group buys as well. There are lots of cool, budget friendly options to choose from!!!
