I could be wrong but I’m gonna limp/call unless the action gets nuts before it’s back around to me to call. You need to hit key cards but could make a nutty hand if you do. Need a deuce, a queen, or some clubs. I’m not raising cause I’m trying to keep the SPR higher.

I'd call because our position is middling and id like to see a flop. We can call a raise but a 3 bet is iffy.

The preflop three bet percentage at this table is essentially zero percent. The only player I've seen do it sits to my right and just folded. If that changes anything.

This is a marginal hand. Perhaps it looks pretty, but there are huge flaws that shouldn't be overlooked. Out of the "six" two card hands, Hero only has three plausible winners. A3s is by far the best, QQ has some chance to flop a set that might be good enough to win, AQo can make Broadway on a lucky day. The other copy of AQo is useless. Same thing with the two versions of Q3o.

Hero has bad position. 100BB effective means we are headed towards a low SPR in a raised pot. < note that SPR isn't exactly an O8 construct, but even so we know speculative hands benefit from higher SPRs even in O8 >

If the table is limp friendly, then limping can be OK. But it is likely a limp/fold. Otherwise fold. Hero has a narrow range of flops that a suitable for his hand. and an even narrower range where hero can scoop the pot. Hero can easily be holding a "silver medal" low hand and find himself seduced into playing a loser all the way to the finish line.

Raising is the worst of the options open to Hero.

When I typed my comment, I had just finished playing the PCF P* Omaha tourney. I lost three hands to quad 4’s, twice with a full house. So yeah, Omaha’s a bitch, and I’m done with her.

Now, where can I find a Big O game?

Limp fold. Hero is praying to flop a deuce and has no counterfeit protection. Keep the pot size to a minimum.

I think this hand is definitely flop worthy. It plays both ways. Suited Ace,d pair of queens, broad way draw..............

You definitely have to practice flop discipline and not get married to hitting any piece of it. There is a lot that can come that will work in your favor.

Like I said, this table is limp to the flop or one raise. I need to incorporate 3-betting into my approach to these games. I will play bigger pots with the best hands, and it is hard not to make money doing that. At any rate

PLO8 is probably the most solved poker game. The preflop starting hands are so limited compared to other forms of poker. Unless you know you are playing in a wild loose game with a bunch of guys throwing chips at every pot you need to be playing a very tight range.

It is not uncommon for a PLO8 game in a casino to break in just a few hours. The skilled players can wipe out the fish extremely fast.

Interesting. In my little bit of stud and stud8 playing, the list of stud8 starting hands worth playing also seems very limited compared to its high hand only counterpart.

To the results, because in hindsight the hand was a mess from hero's perspective and there is nothing to learn except not to play crap hands out of position.



The river went check check. I show, he mucks, I scoop the 40 some odd big bet pot. Lucky me! My opponent plays worse cards than I do.

I think the flop went bet call fold. The turn went check bet call. The river went check check.

If I give opponent something like , we are almost 50/50 with equity preflop.
We are 50/50 equity after the flop.
I am ahead 63/37 in equity after the turn.
Obviously I scoop the river.

I just skipped to the end. Preflop and flop I did the opposite of what was recommended here. Turn I probably did too.
