I’m afraid to ask…,

Zombie, I can sort of answer that question. My understanding is that there is a river, and an island on the river they call Grand Island, and that is what the town is named after. I have been there once and been through there another time. Neither the town nor the island are big, though without much around there, both might be big for that area. Really nice people there!

How in the F did your town founders, settle in the most land-locked state, far from any sizable body of water, and decide "Let's name this town Grand Island"?
Interestingly enough you are not the first person to ask this question on this site...lmao. TexRex nailed it. It's a city with a population of around 60,000. Interesting fact, Casinos have just become legal in this state with the caveat that they are attached to a horse racing track. Basically they were allowed to save the horse racing industry that had been dieing a slow death. I am the Marketing Manager at our new $100,000 casino Grand Island Casino Resort.

Then I won't call it irony that I placed your pin on the Grand Island casino!

Also, congratulate your chip ordering team on getting Paulsons!
