Anybody collect Paulson/GPI manufacturer samples? I've seen these chips on on GPI's website and thought they look pretty cool, does anyone have one yet? The outer ring with the golden net weave seems to combine some features of B&G's jetons/plaques.

Gaming Partners International—Paulson Premium Chip
Gaming Partners International’s latest currency product is an innovation to the Paulson chip line. The Paulson Premium chip offers customers an additional, higher-end chip option for their chip sets. Paulson Premium chips combine traditional clay composite Paulson chip with the same décor materials used in Gaming Partners International’s European style plaques and jetons. The Paulson Premium features an outer décor ring that can be designed using a number of mother-of-pearl décors and gold lace. Customers can also customize the chip’s outer ring to reinforce branding and to add another layer of currency security. In addition, the décor ring helps serve as quick and easy visual authentication tool for dealers and casino staff and helps deter potential counterfeit attempts. Example of a Jeton

paris jeton.JPG

They were used for a short time at Paris (Las Vegas) casino’s French Roulette, but I believe they are still considered "live."

The French Roulette was introduced and quickly retired. If you follow discussions on the chip board, some guy says it's because the casino was losing money on it because the edge was closer to blackjack/craps.

These jetons / plaques were not destroyed but kept in their vault. You can try to ask to buy it from the cage but they will not sell it to you. The ones still floating out there are from collectors who kept them during the short time they were in play. I heard that even when they were in play, the casino would not sell the chips to you unless you were actually playing on the French Roulette.

These jetons are very scarce now and prices had gone way up. I could only afford these lower denom ones. A seller is selling a single $10 jeton for $100 on eBay.

Ah, to have a casino license for a day. Gotta be cheaper than a GPI buy-out.

Are those B&G Paris jetons live?

No... they were used for a "European Roulette" table when the Paris opened. They were on the tables for a while, which is why they are not that uncommon. They still have the full set in the vault (3rd hand info from thechipboard) so they may make a comeback someday, but I doubt it.

Don't ask what European Roulette is. I have no clue.

French Roulette. Good call Sleepy!

Yea, that's what I think I meant. The jetons are not "in play," but they are not technically obsolete. They are still "live" in the sense that the casinos can take them out and put them on the table for play. I believe you can still redeem these chips at the cage, though that would be unwise...

European roulette vs. American roulette

American roulette has the same rules; it only has an extra green color slot with double zeroes. This helped casinos earn more profits and also made players lose a larger sum of money at a faster pace. This form of Roulette had no benefits. In fact worldwide, European Roulette is preferred for winning a larger sum of money.

Only United States has this version of game, as people all over the world play only European Roulette because of its known benefits. People in the US only play it because they are fans or encourage this game. A word of caution always checks whether it is a European or an American Roulette before you start in a casino.

Roulette is a game of chances and you may win a fortune if u chooses the right game and apply the strategies and follow the rules of the game usually found on the surface of the table. Also try spending time with people well versed with this game to learn the tricks.Dont get discouraged if you loose money initially as this will be a learning experience in itself.

So if the only difference is the 00 on the wheel, wouldn't they need roulette chips for being instead of denominated "checks"? Unless they just used the jetons to cash people out.

Here's the link from thechipboard.

"I believe the game was removed because the Paris Las Vegas was losing money on it...I know I won more than I lost by about an 8/1 winning versus losing session record. The odds favor the player against the house at a rate that is much closer to craps or blackjack than any other style of roulette offered in American casinos. It also took two or three croupiers plus a dedicated pit person to run that one table. The croupiers placed your bets for you, had to keep track of who bet what due to the limited variety of jetons when more than three people were playing, and it was a high limit table - $25 minimum inside or out which jumped to $100 minimum inside or out during primetime Friday or Saturday night."

are those paulson premiums available in any casino?
it's like paulson and b&g did the nasty and this was the glorioous product.

Exactly what I was thinking. This combines the best of both worlds – the stylishness of jetons (those golden weaves inside) and the feel and handling of a Paulson chip.

Unfortunately we’re just going around in circles. These exact sample promo chips must exist somewhere. Usually the Vegas casino guys get them from the salespeople and pass them onto their buddies who are chip collectors/sellers. Then it makes its way to the collector’s circle, then maybe some on eBay.

Just haven’t seen any yet…

Casino Montreal has the Paris type jetons for purchase as a gift-card like chip. They don't use them on the floor but you can still buy them for whatever. I have a bunch. They don't stack and are light.

Casino license for a day vs. GPI buy-out?

GPI market cap is only ~$80MM, and given what gets spent on chips around here and the price they're currently getting in the market, we might not be too far off it (GPI has spent most of the last few years at ~$65MM). $80MM - $65MM market cap is probably in the order of 40,000,000 - 33,000,000 chips. Group buy?

Im in for 10k maybe more if I decide to sell some chips, my car, and maybe my house.

There is a casino in Vegas that opens for 1 day a year (or every 2-3 years, I don't quite recall). They are just slots, and off strip, but they just want to maintain their licence, so they open for the minimum required day.

If chippers ever wanted to get a serious Paulson Group Buy, these would be the people to approach. You could only make NCV/tournament chips so you wouldn't have the issues with any ass-munch trying to get $1000 for their cash chip. I'm sure there would be a few other legal hurdles and hand shaking that would require boots on the ground in Vegas, but at least it's a "believable" pipe-dream.

The Moulin Rouge was placed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. In order to keep its gaming license, the casino "opens" once every two years via a temporary on-site trailer and today is that day.

Guys, there’s a cheaper way to do this. Think, how did the CCGTCC get Paulson chips made to commemorate their annual poker tournaments?

All we need to do is book a private event at a casino that includes a poker tournament, say… the first annual PCF get-together? Tell the casino/hotel we need custom chips made for the event and book a hall with a couple of poker tables for the tournament.

We can submit the chip designs to the casino and they will get new chips made for us. At the end of the event, they will give the chips back to us AT COST. These chips are no use to them, and they are not live casino chips that need to be destroyed.

HQ tried this about 6 years ago with the Sin City Showdown over at CT. No luck...but he may be able to shed some light on what went wrong that could potentially be fixed.
