Hi folks, I'm thinking of selling my CPS tourney set and stepping up to a nice Paulson 2 table tournament set (obviously selling the CPS's would only be taking a small piece of the cost of the next set. a pretty small piece in fact, but it would be something). I'm definitely not in a rush to find this set but I'll be scanning the classifieds/ following @TheChipRoom for releases & sales. I would love to hear advice and recommendations from anyone and everyone because i value the opinions of folks on this community. Thank You Very Much :cool

Hi I was wondering the tournament structure - Paulson sets can be great from T2k - T5k. But if you are thinking T10k or higher I might suggest you take a look at designing your own custom set through Classic Poker Chips as higher denomination Paulson’s could get super expensive. Plus with customs you would have one of a kind chips which is not only cool but makes for a more secure game.

i prefer T10k. i see the prices of chips/sets and i figure, if i'm gonna spend the amount of money i think it'll cost, I'm gonna get exactly what i want or as close as possible to it :D

FWIW Paulson casino tourney sets can get really expensive because of the rarity of the 500, 1000, 5000 chips. But Paulson home sets don’t reflect that same high cost (although 1ks maybe be slightly higher than say 25s).

Do grab some from the sale, if you can. Of course. Mint Paulsons like that, effing amazing! Jim is the priest, the magic man if you will. If that is not going to be your path...

Then...

For Hot stamps, my vote is with the Aurora Star. I personally have a small set, and I LOVE them.

For straight labeled THC Tournament, grab an ESPT and be done with it. No messing around. I'd give up ANY of my sets to get that one. It's the GRAIL for Tournament IMHO. The upper denoms ain't gonna run your bank account dry neither....

All just my opinion worth far less than .02o_O

But I wanted to share...

Well what is your budget roughly? Do you want inlaid chips or hotstamps? Do you want casino chips for sure or are Paulson home chips ok?

Roughly $800-$1500. i would love inlaid, but not opposed to hotstamps. casino or home. just looking for something nice. 600-800 chips for a 2 table should be ok (I'd rather have plenty in reserve for rebuy's add on's and bigger games) Thank You for your response :cool

I'm sorry to say that you're not going to get a two table tournament set up of Paulsons with that budget unless you luck out in a Chip Room sale and relabel cash chips into tournament denominations.

If you go the CPC route, chips from The Key West Resort and Casino (@dennis63 is a vendor here that sells them that provides excellent service) and the stock designs from CPC (Atlantic Club hot stamps, Rounders, et al) are within your range and are all excellent chips.

I dunno he definelty could get one in this upcoming Chip Room sale. I think the most expensive tourney set is 350 for a T10k so he could buy a T2K and a T10K and have some money left over. However, this would leave him with some 5 chips that he might not use.

Not a super exciting option, but he can probably build one of those several 36mm solids tourney sets that have come out recently. Horseshoe or WSOP maybe.

Another option is to buy THC solids for around $100/rack, have them milled and then use Gear labels. So you are in for about $1.30/ea + cost of milling if you don't do it yourself.

Yeah and if you do that you can pick the colors and theme it how you want which will yield a super awesome tourney set like @Eloe2000 has.

They’re like playing with thick quarters. I was skeptical too but I got a set and love them. Take a little getting used to. Also, I’m interested in that CPS tourney set !
hopefully i can find a sample out there! i can PM you tomorrow to talk about the CPS's :cool

theres an idea that i've pondered! boy... that set right there is a beauty! love love the vibrant colors!

Yeah, this is the route I went because I really am hooked on THCs but any other route would be like 4x cost plus I may have had to compromise on colors/design. This route just takes more time and effort. I initially built this as a single table set but expanding it to two now. Let me know if you have any questions about going this route.

If the right set of THC roulettes (similar to yours because I love the colors so much) pop up, I’m def interested in it. I can work with the process of getting them milled and have custom labels made.

Thank you very much everyone for your opinions and suggestions! I greatly appreciate it!
In a climate such as the one we’re currently in, it’s comforting to know that there’s still a community out there that looks after one another... even if we’re just talking gambling units used for playing a game
