Patiently waiting on my first real poker set! (1 Viewer)

I have about 10 to 16 college buddies who like to have poker night every 1-3 months.
We usually have about 10 show up.
flexibility to run base T25 up to base T1000
based on my chip distribution below, what high roller tourney starting stack and break down do you recommend for a 1 table 10 player tourney to get my $500,000 plaques in play?

200 x $100
100 x $500
200 x $1000
100 x $5,000
150 x $10,000
100 x $25,000
70 x $100,000
12 x $500,000 plaques.
Is it possible to have a (8-10 player) one table T1M event? Do I have an adequate number of chips?
What if I do starting stacks of 10/10/7/10/10/6 of T500-T1000-T5000-T10000-T25000-T100000? Basically replacing one T100000 with 10xT10000. Then use the extra freed up T100000 chips to color up the 5K's and 10K's? Or is having 6 denominations in the starting stack a no, no?
A ten-player T500-base event with 10/10/7/10/10/6 starting stacks (T500-T1000-T5000-T10000-T25000-T100000) is very inefficient and a bit crazy, as is the notion (or need) for six denominations in a starting stack of any kind, as is a 53-chip starting stack or a 1000BB starting stack size. Put simply, it's just way too many chips, and not the best mix of denominations -- which should facilitate the easy creation of bets, and allow players to quickly determine bet and stack sizes at the table.

However, it is plausible, although certainly not optimum or recommended. Given the constraints of your listed set breakdown, you'll use:

100 x T500 (removed after four levels of play)
100 x T1000 (workhorse chips, in play until L10)
80 x T5000 (includes 10x to color-up T500 chips, removed after L13)
110 x T10000 (includes 10x to color-up T1000 chips, removed after L13)
100 x T25000 (workhorse chips, in play until L18)
64 x T100000 (includes 4x to color-up T5000 chips)
8 x T500000 (used to color-up T10000 and T25000 chips)

You will have 72 total chips/plaques in play at tournament completion (24-36 per player when three-handed and heads-up), and the event should finish no later than L20 (5 hours plus breaks with 15-minute levels, or 6:40 plus breaks with 20-minute levels). If wanting a shorter tournament, you should reduce the size of the starting stacks (vs making the blind levels shorter than 15 minutes).

Personally, I'd go with T1000-base with 35-chip T1M stacks of 10/8/10/7 (T1000-T5000-T25000-T100000, four denominations) and starting blinds of 2000/4000 (250BB) with longer 20-minute levels for a 5 hour tournament (plus breaks), using T500K plaques for color-ups of the T1000/T5000/T25000 chips. Play will be much more meaningful in the early levels, and the game mechanics will be much smoother and quicker, with only five total denominations in play (vs seven).

100 x T1000
80 x T5000
100 x T25000

You will have 77 total chips/plaques in play at tournament completion (26-38 per player when three-handed and heads-up), and the event should finish no later than L16.

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed. My group is still a group of casual players. No one is calculating bet size to pot ratios or adding up the other players chips. Our tournaments usually end with a boat load of chips on the table (most times we don’t even bother coloring up). I think we just like a lot of chips. I will try both structures and see what every one prefers. Thanks again for taking the time help me with this!
