I apologize as I'm certain that this info is out there but in the searches I couldn't find a clear distinctive answer. I am seeing these Paris Chips all over and was wondering how these came about being so available with some being in mint condition. What was the situation that made so many of these intriguing chips available. I don't need a set of these. I don't need a ser of these. I don't need a set of these. I don't need a set of these. Whew...I think that worked.

During the WSOP few years back they had new chips for cash games. That is where the harvest started on the $5s, since those were in new/mint condition.
Also new $1s came out the cage.

$1s has been harvested before that WSOP year.

Guess because the $5s were new, they became worth the face value to harvest ...

Need a set?

Thanks CDC for the info. All I had gathered was people were picking them up (from Paris?) while in Vegas for the WSOP a couple years ago. I just hadn't heard of a major Casino just selling off mint chips before so I was a bit confused as to how/why that went down. I assumed most major Casinos would cancel them. I am trying to tell myself I don't need them but I have the $$$ and that's not a good combination when there's sexy chips around and available.

They had truckloads available. It may have had something to do with the venue and moving chips back and forth, but for whatever reason they didn’t have a problem selling multiple racks to almost anyone for the entire week. I’d estimate about - 200 on the low side and 500 on the high side -mint racks made it into PCF.
Most were at face value or a tad bit higher for tips and appreciation.
Just to give you something to bitch about when people are asking $350 a rack…., lol market value and all that you know

Several members and vendors picked up 100+ racks of $1 $2 (new issue) and $5 during the WSOP in 2022. As part of hosting at Ballys/Paris instead of Rio, they set up a poker room for the extra cash games using the Paris chips.
