I love the Outpost Casino chips, being born in San Ramon.
I initially had a set but I'm a condition matching nit and that's a bad set for that. So I've settled on it being one of the very few sample sets I own.
I found the $1000 on eBay recently and snagged it for $20, although it was high risk because it came like this:
There was not enough room to take it out with a knife, the chip was too stuck with the metal. I was worried there was adhesive holding it in. After messing with it for 15 min I figured out I could slowly lift it our with just my fingernail on the edge:
Moment of truth, what's on the backside?
It wasn't the prettiest, but thankfully a lot of the oxidation peeled right off with my fingernail again:
The stubborn bits needed a soak in some warm soapy water for 10min:
And then between my fingernail and a magic eraser I got most of it off:
This is already looking really good, and I'll work on it with a toothpick later for the grime trapped in the recesses. Final shot of the front all cleaned up:
Full sample/family shot:
All in all I feel this was a gamble that paid off for $20, I'm not sure how many not-drilled out there exist (chip guide shows a drilled as its image). To close, I feel I must say, NFS you degens.
