Here is the original prototype picture with the $5 and $500 overlaid with the new chip colors.
Although I agree that the original $5 cash chip came out a tad dark, I'm not sure if the corrected version is actually an improvement.

Considering that all the other cash denoms have an excellent, strong contrast between base colors and edgespots, the new $5 looks a bit pale now in comparison.

According to BGinGA, only the base color and the darker spots were made lighter. IMHO, the lighter spots should've also been made lighter to keep the whole design consistent and the contrast level where it was and in accordance with the other denoms.

Looks like a big improvement in my book. YMMV:

The revised $5 chip is a dead ringer for the mockup imo.

So I guess we have to agree to disagree on this.

Yes, the original $5 chip's base color was too dark and it was a good idea to make it lighter, but not by as much as you did. The base color difference between the old and the new $5 is quite dramatic, resulting in a new $5 chip that is quite close to the orange $5k chip now.

Keeping the chip a tad darker would've also kept the contrast between base and orange spots more or less intact.

In the mockup the orange on this chip really pops, while I sadly see nothing popping on the new $5.

Just to be clear I picked the colors, not BGINGA so I am the one to blame or give credit depending on your perspective :)
I personally like the color changes but I understand your point of view and this is why no two custom sets are identical. I wish I could please everybody, but as my dad used to tell me "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time"

I have the same feelings bout the lighter $5 however it's an improvement from what it was. I'd really like the orange edges to "pop" a little more but i think they still look fine. I appreciate the organizers looking out for this.

I feel the irl chips will still be great and if the $5 are a complete deal breaker, im sure someone will buy them. Finding a replacement $5 would be a real big challenge imo.

Not a deal breaker at all, especially as the other denoms came out fantastic. I just like good contrasts on my chip colors. In addition, I also ordered orange tourney chips plus labels to use these as $1k's and their orange is a good deal darker than that of the orange cash game chips, making them now VERY close to the light red $5, which is just not nice. If I had known this in advance I would at least have considered simply using the red tourney chip as $5.

I'll just wait until I see them in person. If necessary, I'll hope for another group-buy and add some red tourney chips. These chips truly are great-looking enough to justify additional group-buys in the future!

There are times when I wish Detroitdad would stick to cooking and poker instead of comedic one liners.

When Trump announced tariffs the Chinese bought all the soybeans they could then announced tariffs on soybeans.

We should buy all the chippies we can before Trump announces tariffs on them...

I don't think poker chips will be ever announced. Usually it's the agricultural products.
