Greektown rebrand on the way…
$30 million dollar renovation. I heard about this a week ago from a buddy who is going to be doing the electrical work their his company got one of the bids. Never harvested chips before from a casino that’s rebranding I wonder if I can get in on the action being local and having family in the area. Need to get their before May 1st!!! Lol

Faux shaped inlays get together and look at these chips and think “Aw hellll no they ain’t joinin’ the club, they ugly!”

Confused. Harvest the old chips or new chips?

The old chips should go to sale for less than a $1 a piece, right?
In a ChipRoom sale, generally the used lower denoms (excluding fracs) go for $.49 to .69, and higher denoms in the $1.29 to $3 range (higher for the very high denoms)
New chips are generally 50% to 100% higher.

But who knows what the price would be these days…with inflation and the chip market as it is.

I would add context to this, because the chip room prices can be misleading after the fact. Often, there are percentage limits on how many chips can represent of your order (ie not more than 5%). In practice this means that buyers must commit to buying a large qty (ie 2,000+) chips in order to get the desirable chips in rack quantities. So a desirable rack may be offered for $4/ chip but buyers will spend thousands on other chips in order to be able to get them. This trickles down and explains why the nice $2.50/chips often sell out immediately. Then, people offload the extra chips they don’t need and some people also choose to resell desirable chips if the prices rise beyond what they value them.

TLDR: Chip room sales are fun but limited inventory usually means quick sell out and large financial commitments if you want the good stuff. The after-market prices are often different and usually, but not always, higher due to the interesting way the sales are organized.
