Still above water but barely

Last night was a banger. So many people (probably because of the rain forecasted. I forgot to smile.

Started off slow than some real run good.

1000008004.webp

Just a nub

1000008005.webp

Suddenly, as the run good happened, a respectable "tower".

1000008006.webp

Made it to final table but short. Ran my KK into KQ on an AJT board. Folded the turn luckily.

And managed to claim the bubble for my buyin back!

Last night was my biggest win ever - up about 750 BBs! Of course I had some good cards, but I was playing well too. Highlights:

- Advertising early with AKs 5 bet all PF with 200 BBs. I got a call from the LAG with TT and hit my K.

- Good reads - calling the capable OMC type's river bet on a flush and straight board, the LAG shoving the turn with air when I had an overpair, calling the river shove from the tight rec that overplayed KK when there was a high probability of set over set.

- Value betting, including lots of thin value.

A pattern has developed over the last couple of years. When I have a losing night, I'm usually down around 10 - 40 BBs. Rarely more, and never multiple buy-ins. My winning nights are usually about 40 to 100s of BBs.

Watching Bart Hanson's call-ins on YouTube have helped me a lot. Now all I can think about is Vegas and the fucking Mirage ;)

RIP Mirage :(

Deep and agressive .5/1E tonight at a friend's house. Table by Jarque.
In play, my Athenian Owls V1. Top value (charcoal) ND chip conveniently played as 50E.
In for 750E, out for near 400E  A maniac member of the crew had the cards going his way.

You dear sir, are a good host!

One of the basic reasons I only play in my home or in friends' homes is the US-sourced, and by now global, puritan Pilgrim non-distinction between smoking and vaping/heating in public venues. Protestants just wanna fix you.
NO relation between the two. Actually, cigarette or cigar smoke bothers me, 'cause I can't enjoy heated tobacco, and this is why I only allow smoking in the balcony (or, under the kitchen hood in winter) in my home.
In other friends' houses, where both are allowed, I can still tolerate smoke out of being nice to hosts and friends.

I love this set, so well executed overall!!

Moffia Poker Club was a blast on Saturday night with a first-ever tournament and a great cash game after. Yours truly took home the tournament win (in for $25, out $170) and the cash game didn’t disappoint either. In for $40, out for $95.
My biggest disappointment in the tournament was slow playing a set of fours which ended up as quads on the river against pocket JJ.
The cash game highlight was flopping a straight and ended up chopping the pot when we ran the river twice.

Tournament chips were a huge hit (thanks @dizzyChipper for the hookup!) and my group loved the tournament format after playing cash for almost 2 years.

Special thanks to @Chris Manzoni for the coloring up video and advice which helped me prepare for my first tournament!

Wild night of poker on Saturday. Shout out to @grantcm05 for hosting. The new table topper came out great for The Tilted Fish theme.

Couple notable hands I have to share since I probably had a 90% vpip and was incredibly lucky. To start the night I called an all-in on the turn with just a 10 (just thought i would give action because why not haha) ran it twice and hit a 10 on both run outs to crack aces.
9809.webp

In back to back hands I cracked kings with T8 and Q6.

It culminated toward the end of the night with a double board PLO bomb pot. All in heads up on the turn and and I river quads to beat the better full house. Better to be lucky than good I guess haha.

About to felt my Agaves for the first time!

Swimsuit for the cold plunge that’s set to ice mode apparently. I’ve never been.
I was very confused at first by the angle. I thought you had masterfully balanced a birdcage as a head rest.

Have some run good and post pics. I get my Desjgns in play for the first time on Sat :)

Oh man I feel bad. Half these guys didn’t know the game and I got rockets the first hand (and ten hands later).

IMG_6390.webp

Love these $1s. They weren’t my favorite denom initially but they’re quickly growing!

We got only 1 blurple chip out by the end of the game. Maybe my 2 racks of $20s and rack of $100s is not truly necessary…

I can hear the fingernail scraping on those cards already. Please buy a slowplay mat at least...
