Almost quadrupled my buyin at my game on Saturday!

First tournament on the Section 31 chips. I built the chips for a friend who is an obvious Trekkie. We taught him how to play poker 7 or 8 years ago and he has been a regular at the Zombie Poker Club, but he had never won a tournament... until tonight - on his chips maiden voyage.

Looks like a good time - too bad I wasn't invited. :p:confused:

It was Jason's first ever win. You weren't there. I wonder if there's a connection...

And the game before that, I wasn't even invited - and they were using my (Milano) chips!

Two hours of dime-dime PLO followed by six hours of NLHE. @chipjoker and I both finished around $350 up. Got the jokers wild/Scandia/Casablanca mixed set into action this month.
Shaggy I'm looking for an invite to the next game - Those games are right up my alley and I moved to Murrieta now from LV. Now working at a casino down here. Also, thanks for the nice words on here about those JW .25s.

The guys in the games you play in must think you're a chip god. Does anybody else use anything even close to decent?

No one else even caps their cards. I did finally get them to try some Modianos last night. After some initial grumbling about being slippery, everybody seemed to like the cards.

haha I got the same when I took my Copax to a game. People complained they were too slippery, so we used the paper cards until a couple of them got damaged a few hands in. I didn't get any complaints after that. Funny.

That's a familiar looking set... I wonder if that used to be mine. Its all a blur with who I have bought and sold sets to now.

I don't think it is. I'm pretty sure I bought yours and scattered it out across the country (IL, MA, VA, WA).

this is one of my all time favorite threads :)

@Irish, I love those quarters. Hell, the ones and fives are sexy. Not as sexy as your card protector :)

Those $500 look great! Where are they from? Do you have any other picture?

Royal Venture Cruise Line was a Georgia-based company that planned to operate day-cruises and 5-day trips out of Tampa FL back in the mid 1990's. They purchased the Sun Venture in 1995 from Regency Cruises (formerly the Regent Sun), and it sank under tow in 2001. It is unknown if the ship ever sailed commercially as Sun Venture, as there are federal records indicating that RVCL never met the financial requirements required for legal Maritime use of the vessel. Very few chips exist, and all appear to have been in mint/unused condition at the time they were initially acquired by collectors.

That recent shot is the only photo of the $500s I've ever seen. That was also the first time I've put them in play. This is the current version of my 'wet set'. :)

Well, they're definitely awesome, one of the best $500 I've seen. Very clever use of the gold foil and shaped inlay!

This "wet set" looks great, by the way. I love the idea.
Have you ever considered switching the $25 for emerald princess or starlite chips? They're nice and would add a 4th different boat.

In for $80, out for $80 4 hrs later, lol. Yes, the sticker labeled plastic chips spun like crazy and were tilt inducing, almost impossible to count a pot from 5ft away

Is the empress on an actual boat, or a building-in-a-bathtub like the Ohio River casinos in Indiana? I thought it was land-based.

Empress Casino Joliet was/is a riverboat docked on the Des Plaines river, now operating as Hollywood Casino. It's a real boat, but is 'permanently' tied down and typically doesn't go anywhere.

Here's a picture:

Below are before, during, and after pics surrounding the 2009 fire that destroyed the adjacent entertainment complex. The boat can be seen docked in the first picture, but was moved out of harm's way during the fire:
