Brutal - when dealing i swear he was peeking every burn card, even if not deliberately. One time the guy to his right said hey i saw the burn card and he was in the hand, great from him, awful from this new guy. One time was dealing with the cards under the table until I noticed the deck was missing, then another there was an all in on a 10 10 2 2 Q board and he outloud said well he probs hasnt got a 10 because I folded a 10. So bad...

I try hard to give newbies a chance coming in, and I dont think im crazy onerous with rules, but damn it was tough...
Nope. Even though he is a fish (maybe even a whale) he is bad for the game.

On one hand he sounds like a whale whom I'd have no problem taking money from, especially if he's behaving like that. On the other that kind of behavior wears me thin quickly. It's one thing to act out of turn by mistake then apologize for it, but it's another to directly or indirectly impact the play of a live hand.

I would invite him back one more time and tell him to cool it with the bad behavior after speaking to him one on one. If he keeps pulling the same stuff, I'd ask him to not come back.

Doubt he will change. I have found that people like this seldom do change.

I think he isn't gonna be in for the next game, so I will ask the crew during next game if we should let him back. If the consensus is give him a chance, ill have a word with him and then we can see, but if game 2 for him is as bad as game 1, no chance for a 3rd...

Dedicated dealer would solve a lot of those problems. It's certainly not the most fun thing to do, but as a host I feel like it does help to streamline the game and avoid a lot of issues that come with uneducated/inexperienced folks dealing. There are a few folks that attend my game that I trust to deal effectively and fairly that sometimes will deal in my stead and that's a nice break.

Not speaking out if you aren't in a hand (and heads up) is a pretty common mistake amongst newbies. If it was me I would probably just have a chat about that and probably give the guy another chance.

Yeh 8/11 of my guys can deal pretty damn well, so rotating isnt an issue normally. The last 3 are learning...

In regards to the talking, we actually specifically allow a bit of banter from outside the hand, like 'oooohhh who's got the straight', or "classic xxx player clearly binked the flush on the end" along with a bit of joking, but never explicitly saying what you have obviously...

I tend to go a little more along this line of thinking, but I'm a little more forgiving than the average person, especially if I took a couple hundred dollars from them :p

I can also see why others wouldn't let him back though. I agree with the OP but making him sit out the next game and discuss with the regulars and take a group vote to see if they would let him back or not, but ultimately it's the OP's game.

No matter the financial gain, the behavior you describe is a detriment to any game. Depending on your relationships with other players, you might face some avoidable attrition.

we are all good friends and whilst we take the game pretty light hearted, we all know the ettiquette well enough to not cause issues... but hey, maybe you are right.

also sorry to derail the thread from photos lol

On cashout:

I have 25¢
We'll round that down to zero
No, I want 25¢
You're a dick. I'm not inviting you back. Here's your quarter.
Fine. Also, this. I'm up $10
Why didn't you tell me I would have rounded you down to $10.
Fine, just give me another $9.75 and we're even.
OK, here you go.
Also, I have $30 more dollars here... :sneaky:

Right. This is like one of those things I can't look away. And if I have to see this everyone does.

How dare he call that chip porn also.
I know that it is a photo, but I am still amazed that those stacks aren't just exploding each time that I look at them.
