One of my long time poker players talked me into buying Arc Raiders, and I cant put this game down...

Anyone else playing it?

I was obsessed when it first came out. Was about to start a new job so had a bunch of time and grinded a shit ton. Really amazing game.

Then once I stepped away for a couple weeks it totally broke the spell. It’s hard not having enough kit to sustain a couple bad raids in a row and no longer knowing every detail feels really detrimental. Just doesn’t feel like something I can play casually.

Love this game! Excited to check out the new update today after work. Also about to go on my second expedition reset in a day. Will have to start that grind all over again.

I'm still getting started on this game, I'm level 6. I've been going in solo so I can spend the whole time looking for stuff I need. Sometimes go in with a squad if I feel like talking. Very social game.

Impressed at how helpful people are. So far I've only been killed by another player once out of around 10 games total.

I was turned onto this game by playing COD MWZ (PVE only). Somewhat similar, but also very different. The player base for MWZ is dying, so many are moving to this.

I bought it but only played two matches so far. Seems fun but going to take time figuring out what loot and weapons to ignore (I loot everything). Been grinding Escape From Tarkov so I'll probably turn to Arc full time once I burn out on it.

Quick tips for newbies. Always take your free loadout, then sell it for a Mark I looting augment. Lance will trade you one free loadout for a Mark one looting kit for even swap. That way you have a safe pocket, and a little extra looting space. It's completely free, so take advantage of that.

Second advice is search everything, even empty containers, since you gain the same amount of XP for them.

Third tip is understand that PVP is part of the game, and although it's not a part I enjoy, the gear and stuff will all come back to you at some point. If you treat it like your gear is on temporary loan, you won't feel so dejected at getting PVP.

Lastly, although I don't care for the PVP aspect myself, I understand what it brings to the game. That tension, that anxiety you feel at the potential total loss of your loadout, that is what makes the victory so much sweeter and more appreciated. You really do get a natural high when you make it out successfully after a heroing encounter. Understand the lows are low, but the risk makes it the successes that much better. Enjoy the game, whether you get killed, have successful raids, or just meet new people from all over.

Yes, I've been using the free loadout a lot. Though last night I wanted a safe slot, so used a looting loadout. I was able to find the dog collar. Got a lucky spawn by the apartments and it was easy to find.

Got downed by the bots near the exit. There were 3 of them. I was able to crawl into the exit and extract.

I don't mind the player killers, just makes the game interesting. So far, I've only be killed once out of around 10 deployments, so seems like it's not that often. I did read they try to match the player killers with other player killers.

With COD MWZ, there were constant complaints from the troll community that they didn't like the game because they couldn't kill the other players lol. Wouldn't really work with the MWZ setup. I guess most of them weren't smart enough to realize that.

Yes, there is a PVP algorithm that factors whether youve done PVP dmg to other players, and during matchmaking, it will put you with other similar players.

I believe the look back is around 10 raids, so a lot of PVP players take Free loadouts into games and die right away to get into PVE lobbies.

I also know that some who only do PVE and suck at PVP tend to not fight back so they dont get sent to PVP lobbies after respawn. If youre gonna lose anyway, why get "blood on your hands". I have thought about this, but i always try to defend myself. The problem is that if a PVP player gets the first shot, its very difficult to recover..

Great tips! That risk of losing everything is what has me hooked on Tarkov. I love the rush of putting an expensive loadout together knowing I can lose it all with one wrong encounter. I think Arc Raiders is going to be right up my alley.

I was late to the party when it came out, had played it a ton, solo, north american servers only, friendly. Only killed 3 raiders in all my time, usually encounter helpful players

I'm max level, could've done expeditions but hate chasing blueprints so didn't bother

Just played again yesterday and got to fight the new flying flamethrowers

Usually bring an Anvil for the ARC and a Torrente for RATS

When your buddy is doing the expedition and he's about to lose his entire stash and bankroll, what does he do? He funds a few queen/matriarch raids...

After the raids, I still had around $500k in cracker ammo in my stash... One the queen battles was just our group of three by ourselves.. it was awesome!

Been trying for weeks, crazy runs into Blue Gate security locker. Runs into Stella. Nada. Simple solo raid to Dam Annex (my usual loot run) and find THIS finally in the med lab of all random places

In 2026 when the COD DMZ comes out i will take time off work to play it

A couple games ago, I went in with squad fill. Seemed like a good run. Then heading to the exit and one of my squad mates sees two guys and starts a gunfight. I didn't want to fire back, but was cornered. Killed one of the guys. Guess I should've run away when he opened fire?

Now like previously mentioned, I'm 'in that algorithm'. Every game I go into, people are shooting at me. I don't have much, so haven't survived the last 4 matches. Figure I'll try to run or just let myself get killed without firing back? Should I just keep going in with free loadouts and not fire back?

Too bad there isn't a PVE only mode in this game.

I started playing DMZ only to grind the BP. Ended up finding it a fun mode to play. Still didn't play a ton, but did a few of the unlocks. I was thinking of going in now again just to check it out. See if I can make anymore progress. I know it's mostly PVP now though.

Load in with a free kit and either end the matches right away 5-6 times or play them out but don't shoot other raiders and it should get you back in the carebear lobbies

Isnt it like DMZ B21 where you can kit up pretty easily

Also, solos will nearly always get you in friendlier lobbies vs trios. Run solo a few times, spawn and head towards the nearest elevator, grab some quick loot along the way, repeat.

That will be the current plan. Maybe solo is the way to go. I feel like my teammates aren't usually that good. Though nice to have around if you get downed and need a revive.

I enjoy the fill squad option from time to time. Nice to play with some other folks, but I always start out with these groups with a free loadout. I've run across some real clowns, and Leroy Jenkins types, and don't want to risk nice stuff. If I get a good squad, then my future loadouts get progressively nicer as my trust increases.

Stellaris is the best; it gets crazy when you start diving into multiplayer. The russians are crazy good.

I hadn't played it since 3.14 so the new 4.03 is a significant change. But they've been making it like you have to relearn the game every update it seems. I don't have all the DLC and updates though, so don't get all the features.

And it seems the best option if I did want to go that route would be the $9.99/month subscription rather than spending $400+

Yea subscription works best, no commitment needed. You can try getting all the achievements, there are a lot to aim for and it gives purpose to the game.

On top of the base game theres also a ton of cool mods like Gigastructural Engineering that adds new megastructures and enemies (Blokkats and Blokkittens haha). Clocked nearly 3k hrs in Stellaris before I switched to COD DMZ and then Poker/Tiger Palace.
