Yea subscription works best, no commitment needed. You can try getting all the achievements, there are a lot to aim for and it gives purpose to the game.

On top of the base game theres also a ton of cool mods like Gigastructural Engineering that adds new megastructures and enemies (Blokkats and Blokkittens haha). Clocked nearly 3k hrs in Stellaris before I switched to COD DMZ and then Poker/Tiger Palace.

Damn, I feel like a noob, just under 1700 hours myself
