Good luck learning your new skill! This year I am going to learn how to use the air fryer we got for Christmas. Crispy wings are up first.

Air fry on highest setting (mine is 400F). Watch them, flip them after a few minutes. When they look done, they are. Kosher salt, pepper, garlic powder and smoked paprika rub and they are great with no sauce. Sauced is good too....melted butter, Frank's and a bit of honey.

For an upcoming meet up, I’m developing a new skill – adding embroidery to the back of a hat. To help me practice, I’m giving away one hat with the PCF logo stitched on the front and either your username or your actual name on the back (your choice). I make no guarantees on how the back will turn out.

To enter, post a new skill you plan or want to learn in 2023. Entries close Sunday, January 8th at midnight server time. I will randomly pick 10 for a NLHE flip. Those in the flip will get a PM of their two cards and will have one day to either keep those two or get two other random cards.

Good luck all!

Very nice of you, thanks!!

I would like to learn how to weld. I am an amateur craftsman at a number of things, but have never learned how to weld.

Tennis. Again! - Maybe this disqualifies me?! ;)
Do you have a particular focus? For example, the season I worked on my posture, specifically ensuring a had a good bend in the knees when preparing to return serve, my game really improved.
Any particular focus? I can send you an address to ship samples....
New skill for 2023....stop barreling air into players who don't fold
That's basically how I lost the last head's up with PZ.

I would like to learn how to play poker this year so I can use one of the sets I keep buying
That's a good goal! I'm always working to improve poker skills.
I am going to try to learn to produce music on my computer !
I have an app on my tablet that just sits there. I hope you do it!

Wings..... yum!

You two have similar answers.
I would like to learn how to balance private life with my work life. I’ve been not playing poker these days to grind for many hours. I just graduated college in 2021, so figuring out work life balance which didn’t go well last year. I miss the days I played a lot back in 2018-2019 with nickels and quarters, no chips. Maybe with chips this year
Balance is critical. Boundaries are the key (imnsho).
The last thing I need is a new hobby, so I'm going to work on being better at some of the things I'm already doing. I'm going to try and improve my time management and organization skills so I can do more in less time. And prioritizing what's most important. If I'm successful, I'll have more time for chipping and poker. er, I mean more time for family. Yeah, that's it. Family. Final answer.
I recommend David Allen's process of Getting Things Done.

My UT Level I testing is tomorrow. I pass the test and my new job as an NDT tester starts. Decent pay jump comes along with it (maybe I can finally afford what is sold here at PCF)
I suspect you'll get a lot of new exposure with a new job.
New Year's Day, I learned to play cribbage!
And moose is already done for the year. :)
At the start of this year I learned to shuffle stacks, do the chip flick, twirl, and knuckle roll. This year I got 4 decks of cards for Christmas, so I'd like to learn the spring, where you shoot a deck of cards from one hand to the other over a distance (maybe some neat cuts and shuffles as well).

Just wish they didn't call it cardistry... Probably the most embarrassing name I can think of.
I'm sure we can find something more embarrassing, but why? I'd love to know if you work this out!

Great give away!!

I want to learn how to make a few killer Thai recipes (specifically, Pad See Ew).
I am not much of a cook, so this is going to be a stretch. But where there is a will….

And it will be fun practicing!
That's an excellent choice! I love Thai food!
Very nice of you, thanks!!

And getting the equipment is fun! You can watch the next solar eclipse with the welding mask.

Bread and pastries.

I have mastered chocolate chip cookies. A coworker liked them so much she conned me into selling 20 dozen at work. I thought it would be like 3-4 dozen, but she just kept telling people and taking money, and then she dropped a wad of cash on my desk and started calling me Mr. Cookie. Now I don't want to bake cookies anymore haha.

Really cool!

I personally want to read more as I noticed how I did it less and less over the past couple of years even though I used to enjoy it :)

I'm a very avid reader. More so now that I use the Kindle app, as I can pickup a book anywhere via my phone.
I want to work more on my skill with a smoker. Still trying to make a better brisket.
Food! yes!
Woodworking...first build I'm planning on doing is a poker table :)
You and @GOBLINxKING are both working towards woodworking. Share pictures!

Air fryer is a GAME CHANGER! So many things you can do with it, and most are super easy. I made an amazing brussels sprouts dish last week that is going to become a regular. Wings sound awesome. Good luck!

I‘ve played tennis for many years as a kid. I stopped playing for 20 years and would work on my comeback.

Two people took new cards. Let's see how we stand before the flop!
