New to the Poker Chip Family (1 Viewer)

Hey welcome aboard!

I myself started playing poker about 12-13 years ago and got into chip collecting and all the stuff that goes along with them (ie: cards, racks, etc.) about 2 years into playing. I gave up the hobby and playing cards about 2 years later when I got married and just recently got back into it, almost 8 years later. Boy, did I miss this game and the hobby of collecting chips. Within, the first 30 days of joining this forum, I have sold off most of my old Paulson cash set and have since acquired an even bigger one in better condition and have also made plenty of acquaintances & friends in such a short period. I'm glad I got back into all this.

What's your story?

Welcome. I've always liked poker since Texas holdem was all the rage when I was in high school, but haven't played any since then. After we had our baby I didn't have any hobbies other than family time, mainly because our budget was very strict preparing for hospital bills and cleaning up student loan debt. One day I randomly stopped to talk to a neighbor I had never met about his cool jeep and 4 wheelers, when we finished talking he invited me to poker. The rest is kind of history. I fell back in love with the game immediately, but since I can't play all day every day I guess it worked out that I got into chips, tables, cards and everything related to the game as an additional pastime. Poker at the neighbors wasn't consistent so I wanted to start hosting which led me to look for chips and such, I believe I saw the bellagio chip on a YouTube video and wondered how I could get casino chips to play with which led me here.

Incredibly long boring story = chips good

Hello and welcome! I'm not a regular poker player. *GASP*

In my hometown, a few times a year, I do casino themed parties to raise money for (local) charities. Most of the time they are my own parties, but sometimes I lend a hand with my equipment to others' parties. Other than that, I tend to make inane, uninformed, and superfluous comments in the various threads here, and I pour a little time and energy into hunting for chips in the wild and bringing them back here to distribute to various PCF members.

I've been here less than a year, and I've gotten into all sorts of trouble. Be warned.

Hi! welcome. I began interested in chips shortly after I became interested in online poker. I wanted to play some games with friends, but wanted to have some nice chips as well. A little bit of research turned up Paulson chips as top tier.

Welcome aboard. I was fairly into poker from the boom and past black Friday. However it is generally a poker desert in my immediate vicinity so it trailed off as I got busy with family and starting a business. A little less than two years ago I decided to get back into poker as something completely different from the rest of my day to day and away from politics and so forth. Then like so many I found the @Hobbyphilic videos and found my way here. I've always had the collector illness but had kept it boxed up for a very long time. Now it's loose and gone feral.

Bought some dice chips from Wally world and I knew the world wasn't such a dark place.

But really, probably spending time in Vegas with my dad years and years ago.

Hi and welcome!

I got into poker maybe 15 years ago and around then bought my first set of cheap as anything chips on a wonderful holiday in America where my cousins taught me how to play.
I collected single chips from casinos maybe eight years ago and admired them for a while without considering the possibilities of getting a set of that quality for myself.
I found this forum in April this year and at that point had to get myself a proper paulsons set.
Now I have two full sets of chips, one for tournaments one for cash games. I will hopefully have the self control to slow down from now when it comes to purchases!

Welcome Friend,
I've been at it since 2006 with the poker resurgence. I noticed eventually that the chips I saw on TV were different than the ones I saw advertised. Then I was stricken with a mental disorder and all I wanted was more and better.

Welcome,

Joined to see what i can pick up from the classifieds and pick everyone's brains. Hope u find what u are looking for.

Played since 2003ish. Started with dice chips and upgraded to CPCs about 10 years ago. Didn't know paulsons were available until I found this site earlier this year. Now I'm hooked. Welcome!

Welcome,
I fell in love with Texas Hold’em around 10 years ago. I always had a fascination with poker chips. Most games in ny use crappy chips; although when I was beginning, I thought they were cool. I researched enough to know Paulson and asm but thought $1 per chip was astronomical at the time. Plus I didn’t have enough space to have a poker table in my apartment.
Recently, I moved into a bigger place and made the plunge to host games. As I was researching again, my girlfriend suggested I join a forum. I’m so glad I did! For a long time I thought I was the only crazy one craving beautiful poker chips.
I recently bought my first chip set from Matsui. I absolutely love them, but evidently my thirst still continues. I’m currently on the hunt for a tournament set, but my wallet is still recovering from the Matsui cash set. Best part of the forum is, I know I’m not alone. :)

Over any appreciable period of time it gets worse and never better. I have a matsui cash set and a tournament set and I still want more. I keep thinking that if I get one more set of chips Ill be happy but when I do there's never enough chips. Then I start looking for a different set............

Welcome to the club, team, prision, hobbie, fun filled day dreaming of what you want and cant have, and ect...

I have been into chips for 8 years now, I started in 2010 when I started playing poker, Thanks to @Shaggy ...

Have fun..

Welcome. I've been chipping since 2008. I came back from Vegas and started to think that I had to step up my hosting game. I've bought and sold many sets in my time, but it's been a great journey.
