NEW to the Forum! Poker Chip Addict in the Making! (1 Viewer)

Welcome!! Get samples first! Buy a weight scale to weigh them as well. It will help you decide which chips would be in your personal interest.

Welcome to PCF! Take your time a lot of good info in the forum posts to help you decide how you want to spend your money..

Hello and welcome!

Yes, by all means, take your time.

The most important thing to do to avoid blowing your budget too quickly (because, let's face it, it will happen eventually) is to define your game.

Cash? How many players, what are your stakes, what's your estimate of the largest amount of money on the table at the end of the night on your biggest night.

Tournament? How many players, what is your blind structure, do you allow rebuys and how much/how often, when and how to colour up.

Once you've locked down this info, the rest is easy peasy from there. I swear, you won't even notice the money flowing out of your bank account.

Hey everyone! New member here, I’ve recently caught the poker chip bug and I’m already eyeing too many sets I can’t afford. Curious to hear, any tips for someone just starting out so I don’t go broke too fast? 😃

Welcome!

One tip for helping you sort things out: read through the new members guide from @Machine
(plenty of info on types of chips, number of chips you’d need, etc)

You're looking at it wrong, the earlier you go broke the quicker you can start building back up lol.

Better to have chips and not have to buy any more than have to buy chips and not being able to.

Hi and welcome m'lady!

Hello and welcome!

Here are my handy tips:
  1. Do not visit pokerchipforum.com
  2. If you must do #1, do not create an account
  3. If you must do #2, do not engage with the members

I'm curious, how did you catch the poker chip bug?

Hello and welcome! Already a ton of great advice here :) enjoy the addiction, I mean hobby!

Welcome to PCF! Know what chips you like best, try to figure out cost of different chip set options based on recent auctions and sales, project how many chips and what $ chips you think you will need for your game and try to stay within a budget for reference. If you can be patient, a custom set or predesigned Tina group buy set may be a less costly option for you. Read lots of threads on PCF for more insights.
