I am new to the group and loving everything in here! I am starting a new cash game amongst my buddies and looking for chips with denominations of $.25, $.50, $2 and $5.

Welcome!

What stakes are you planning for?
Either way, I would suggest changing to 25c or 50c. Keeping 4-5x between denoms makes the set more efficient.

If 25c, definitely go with a $1 chip (but probably if it’s 50c as well), a $5 chip and a $20/25 chip. If you absolutely want a $2 chip I would rather go with 50c/$2, and would suggest bumping the $5 to a $10 as well as adding a $50 for possible future proofing

If your plan is to play .25/.50 cash games, just get quarters, 1’s, 5’s and some 25’s. Maybe a barrel of 100’s, but it’s doubtful your game will need them.

A good breakdown:
  • 25¢ x 100 (maybe as many as 160)
  • $1 x 200 (maybe 300)
  • $5 x 200 (possibly 300-400)
  • $25 x 100
The basic 600-chip setup has a bank of $3725. That will likely be plenty, especially for a new game.

My guys like a lot of chips in play so my 25c/50c set started out as below. I slowly added (50) $25s and will eventually acquire the rest of the chips to be able to go to $1/2 if desired.

$850 bank
25c x 200
$1 x 300
$5 x 100

$25 x 50 ($2100 bank)

Solid set up
