Hello chip enthusiasts! I hope I have posted this to the correct place as I am a new member and coming in fairly clueless (first post). I have around 2560 chips that my Grandfather gave to me and I am interested in finding out how much they would sell for. Although I am not 100% on selling them right now, I am interested in seeing what they are worth. I have been told by one chip collector that they are really nice chips. I dont collect chips and probably never will but want to make sure I get what I can when the time comes to move on from them. He gave me 1150 Horseshoe Casino chips and 1410 CDI chips.

For the Horseshoe chips I have 200 - $2, 250 - $5, 30 - $10, 40 - $20, 30 - $25, 300 - $50, and 300 - $100.
For the CDI chips I have 600 - $1, 600 - $5, 100 - $25, 50 - $100, and 60 - $500.

I have attached pics of the chips. Any info on the chips would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to PCF! This is one heck of an entrance.

Very nice chips! They certainly have some appeal here! Others are more knowledgable than I about their market value, but you should have no problem finding out what they're worth, and/or moving them along if you decide to.

Hello and welcome!

I don't know the Horseshoe values. The CDI98 are worth at minimum $2.75 each, any maybe more, if they are in very good or better condition. You will have buyers here for those (including me), no problem.

Nice chips. Thousands of dollars. Easy. The best place to sell them, without a doubt, is right here in this forum. If they are out in the open (not by private message if you are new, unless you know the deal is a good one) you will get a good price and good advice.

I would not trust the people here with my life, because some of them are a little off-center, but I'd trust them with my chips.

Your Horseshoe Gardena set is the real deal. There was a fantasy set made of these with circle inlays. But you have the originals with the shaped inlays. Very nice. My guess is that you’ve probably already received many PMs regarding the black $20’s. If not, I’ll state my interest here. Welcome!

Wow! Thank you for all the comments and the warm welcome! I appreciate everyone's time. I am leaning toward selling them possibly soon, I just want to make sure I get the most for them when that time comes. I see a few varying comments on how much I should be able to get for the sets. I saw where one person was saying 5k easy and one person was saying possibly 8k for the sets. What would create that big of a difference? I truly dont know hardly anything about chips and would love to know if it's best to sell all the chips together in sets, or denomination sets, CDI set and Horseshoe set, etc etc. Also I would love to hear what I should price them for when selling them. Especially if some chips are worth more than others. I want to be fair but I also dont want to sell cheap if I have what everyone is considering to be excellent sets. I totally understand what FDLmold is saying with PMs because I'm sure there are some people that would try to take advantage of someone not knowing what things are worth, not all though. I can see where the open sale would allow more fairness of offers. Thanks again for all the comments and help so far and I look forward to hearing many more. This forum is very nice and the advice is appreciated.

1150 Horseshoe Casino chips and 1410 CDI chips.

Horseshoe chips: 200 - $2, 250 - $5, 30 - $10, 40 - $20, 30 - $25, 300 - $50, and 300 - $100.
CDI chips: 600 - $1, 600 - $5, 100 - $25, 50 - $100, and 60 - $500.
Best way to maximize your sale value is to offer the chips up for auction here on PCF as individual sets.

Those original Horseshoe Casino chips are pretty rare and highly desirable, given that they were made for a casino (never used, however), and feature shaped inlays. As mentioned earlier, Paulson also made round-inlay chips that were similar, and sold them in their stores. Paulson also used the original Horseshoe chip color/spot combinations in several of their other fantasy set lines.

The CDI set is more common, but still in relatively high demand. It was a fantasy set produced by Paulson and sold in their stores.

I'd put an estimated value of $5000-$6000 on the Horseshoe set for the right buyer, and an estimated value of $3500-$4500 on the CDI set (provided it is in pristine condition). For an auction setting, I'd start the bidding at $4000 and $3000 respectively with $10 increments and let the market buyers determine the actual values they are willing to pay. It is by far the best way to maximize your return.

Good luck! Both are very nice sets, and will find grateful owners here.

If no one wants those Horseshoe 2's, I'll take them at a grossly undervalued price! :D

So how exactly does the auction and the for sale ads work when using PCF? Would I just set up a PayPal after the sale for the buyer? Does PCF have any fees when using the site to sell? Thanks

is anyone else sick, seeing a guy have these 2 amazing sets of chips some of us would die for and he just wants to hand them over! I don't blame you @Dferg14 thats a lot of money tied up into something if they mean nothing to you. I just hope one day you don't get the chip bug and realize what you sold that was in your family. You might never find those horseshoes again. anyway welcome to PCF :)

Thanks toynoob! That is why I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to sell. Everyone keeps telling me how nice these chips are. I just couldn't believe some of the numbers that people are saying they are worth. I can understand your frustration as a collector as well since I don't happen to collect chips.

Transactions are usually done with paypal, but could also be done with other methods. PCF take no fees, and are also not in any way held responsible if there are issues with the transaction.

Usually the seller would ask that the money is transferred to his or her paypal account prior to shipping the chips. When money is recieved, theand seller is expected to ship the chips promptly, unless otherwise communicated to the buyer. Many transactions on here are done with paypal friends and family, but with new sellers that have no feedback stats the buyer is probably going to use the paypal goods and services option, to be able to file a claim just in case the chips are not sent or if there are other issues. Usually this is not a problem though, but there are sometimes (luckily rarely) cases of scams or other shenanigans.

Marius L thank you for the reply. That makes total sense. Everything you stated I was thinking that is probably how they operate things. I can totally understand the PayPal good and services as well with no feedback. Gotta make sure you are protected these days for sure. Thanks again for the response!
