Hi, new member here.

I used to lurk around CT back awhile ago, but for various reasons I have been out of it for a number of years.

Imagine my surprise upon returning to find out that the entire industry is out of the home business...LOL...Which is pretty funny considering that now I have the means to afford the chips I always wanted, they no longer make them.

I have requested samples of all of the China clays, Key wests, Mardi Gras, and some ABC ceramics, and I still have all of my old samples that I used to lust over.

I'm trying to build a cash set ( $20 buy in) since my Casino Royale Chips are all higher denoms and that is all I have right now.

I see that Hold Em still has a few Samurai Palace sets available that have .25c and $1 chips in them, and I do like the design...should I just forgo all of the China/ceramic offerings and just buy the samurais? I'm sure I could find some $5 if I was patient.

What do y'all think?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Welcome!
Definitely lots of options if you're looking in the Casino Used side, I love real casino used chips :)

Welcome aboard! Sorry everything tanked by the time you got the bankroll! Yes, keep am eye on the classifieds. Lots of sets have been hitting the market lately.

Welcome!

You can still purchase full custom clay chips at one place only, classicpokerchips.com, formerly ASM. There are some good choices for full customs among the ceramic chip vendors also.

The samurai palace are a nice choice, but unfortunately thanks to legendary BCC quality control there are variations in base color shades in all the cash denoms except the $100 and holdempokerchips won't work with buyers on the front end or returns/exchange. If the color variation doesn't bother you, it's a good choice.

Good luck and enjoy the journey.

Welcome! I would pass on all the CC's etc. & go for some used casino Paulsons. Your timing is near perfect.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open for a Paulson set that works for me. They were always my favorite, especially the World Top Hat & Cane.

I may also order a ceramic chip set also once my samples come in...it would make a good travelling set and I wont have to worry about drunk family members losing my $3 Paulson chips...LOL...plus they are relativity cheap...

Thanks for this info. That makes sense as to why these chips are still in stock. I also heard about the split edge spots on the Mardi Gras chips after I ordered some samples. That's really disappointing as well.

Glad I'm finding out this stuff before I spend big money...Thanks for all of the great info here.

You should be able to get some Horseshoe Casino Cleveland chips (paulsons) in an upcoming sale from the chip room soon, or aftermarket here as folks unload.

Welcome
There's still time to jump on the ceramic hybrid group buy if you are interested. Long thread but Tommy keeps the first post updated with the essentials.

If you can get a set of SP's I recommend it. These chips are fantastic. A favorite of the multiple sets that I have had. I've kept it longer than most cash set :)

Here is the color discoloration that they are talking about. Honestly, at the table when their in use its hardly noticeable.
