New chips - Resort World Catskills (1 Viewer)

Went today for a couple hours to check out what shape the $1s are still in. A 2:1 cherry picking got me a rack in very near mint condition. The other half were noticeably dirtier or starting to wear. If you want to harvest, the time is now! Offered a nice tip at the cashier for an unplayed rack but she couldn't do it. Sat at the front table and blatantly sorted chips and put a rack in my backpack without any issue (brought my own racks to carry out in).

I agree with most of the points in the reviews above. Chips are about 9.3-9.4g, pretty standard for modern RHC. Poker room is a decent size but definitely less inviting than Rivers.

Could someone PM and explain how to insert photos that show up as thumbnails? I can't figure it out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ejot, what kind of shape are the chips @ Rivers in these days?

Have never been and I kind of like that blue for a $1 relabel.

The whites are nice there too

I haven't been for a couple months. @bentax1978 might have a better gauge. Definitely showing some wear but still worth grabbing if you don't need mint, last I saw.

Thanks for the heads up and look forward to hearing what Bentax1978 says.

Obviously always prefer mint if you can find em.

I haven't been in a few months either. In fact the last time I was there I didn't even handle a single chip as I went for the sole purpose of grabbing a cannoli (it's the only place you can grab one after midnight around here).

As @ejot said, they're still in decent shape, but I don't think you'd be able to very easily put together racks of near-mint chips at this point (unless they start introducing new racks). I have around (30) mint(ish) $2 from opening week, but I didn't go enough back then to finish the rack. The $2 chips are in play at the poker tables, but I don't know if you can buy them at the cage. They're used mostly for a drop chip, so at any given time each player probably only had a couple in their stacks.

How about the rivers 1's?

Similar condition as I recall, though they definitely show dirt much more readily being white. I might actually get down to play later this week, so if I do I can give you guys a better assessment. I actually saw the poker room today, but it was from the outside from the car wash place we go to across the street, so I couldn't actually see the chips

You can buy $2 chips at the cage at Rivers. I sometimes get a barrel when buying in, whether playing 1/2 or 2/5. (Whenever possible, I’d rather put in my exact amount instead of having the dealer make change.)

I was last there about a month ago, and the chips were pretty filthy. I don’t know what their plan is as far as periodically cleaning them, if ever.

I made a stop by Rivers today solely to harvest chips (which is all I did).

I went with the honest approach at the main cage and asked them if I could buy a rack of mint 1's and they told me that I needed to get any 1's from the poker room.

At the poker room I tried the same thing. The lady at the cage couldn't be nicer and even checked her chip drawer to see if she had any new chips.

In the end I took a few racks to the restaurant near the front and cherry-picked a rack in about 20 minutes (in plain sight) and went on my way.

The chips are definitely in "casino used" condition (read: DIRTY), but overall they're still in very good shape (IMO).

They'll be great after a cleaning and more than likely a re-label even though I really like the labels!

haha, nope... I didn't even get the cannoli that you mentioned.

I was strictly business. Was less than 30 mins from the time I got to the parking lot to the time I left.

LOL... I had a meeting back home which caused my rush.

That said, I should have gotten some cannolis for the road.

I did see the car wash though, haha

Overall I feel like the whites (only chips I handled) are in good shape wear wise.

I may try to harvest some blues if I make another trip there.

It's on my way back from Vermont and not too far out of the way, so I could definitely see that happening!

Thanks for the heads up guys

And it's only $5 for 8 minutes, plus they take credit cards so you don't have to fool around with quarters or tokens.

I may try to harvest some blues if I make another trip there.

If you want, I can hold onto the 30 mint $2 chips I have in case you end up wanting them. I was just going to cash them in next time I remember to bring them back, but I'm in no rush.

I’ve used that car wash. It is... vast. Kind of a weird vibe. I was looking over my shoulder the whole time.

Food at Rivers: Pretty lousy; they need to expand to more options... I stick to plain pizza if it’s really necessary to eat something. Haven’t tried the cannolis.

Went there today and hit the black jack tables for a bit (beat the house today (y)).
snapper is cool and the $500 is very nice in person.
